Has anyone tried porting Vega to work in React Native?

Kind of,

I'am able to display vega chart in react app using the notebook approach https://observablehq.com/@observablehq/how-to-embed-a-notebook-in-a-react-app It's certainly not the most straigth forward and I still have difficulties passing props to the vega charts but for simple rendering it works.
