Hello!
Hope you are enjoying this beautiful November day!
This morning I made 12 Ayuvedic Burritos (Yes, I made up the recipe... They are delicious by the way... Let me know if you want the recipe)
Then I wrapped them up and handed them out to hungry people at Occupy Oakland with a 2 month course flier ;)
Not a bad way to advertise right?! People were so grateful, it felt amazing!
Also, I am not sure if you all saw, but I posted my video on You Tube, and shared it with facebook this morning. In case you didn't get a chance to view it yet, here is the link...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CBVIozKSbAM
It was super fun to make!
I think that it would have been better if I had done a few things differently,
1. Gotten better shots of the colorful food and spice kit.
2. I should have said to add more water when needed.
3. I wish I would have mentioned Vedika Global at the beginning of the video as well.
4. Wish it was a bit shorter.

You live you learn right!

Here are some suggestions on topics people could use for their videos.

1. Hot water
2. Spiced Milk
3. Waking up early
4. Meditation
5. Mantra
6. grocery bill being lower than before you took the class
7. personal relationships ( growth and change)
8. self love
9. Oiling the body ( maybe a live demo is not the best approach for this one ;)

May I also suggest making a video with a partner, I think it would be more fun to watch 2 people interacting!
If you do not have access to a video camera, or feel too busy to fit it into your schedule Ripa will be at Vedika tomorrow after 3:30pm, and is willing to film you discussing the topic of your choice. I think for this option, we should have it filmed in different locations so that all of the videos look different. Example, 1 person outside talking about oiling. Another person by the altar talking about meditation. Another person in the kitchen talking about spices... You get the picture :)

Okay, I think that covers it.
Have a wonderful day!
Love always,
Mahi

Thanks, Mahi - this is a wonderful first video; I just shared it on my Facebook page...and wonder if we can post it onto Vedika's Facebook page as well (Shunyaji, can you please confirm whether this is OK?)...

And I would love to learn how to make Ayurvedic burritos - please do share the recipe! Great way to give people a (literal) taste of what Vedika is all about!

Mitras: please let me know if you'd like to be part of similar videos on any of the topics Mahi has kindly suggested in her note tomorrow afternoon. I will be happy to film you, alone or in pairs. It is a great way to share your enthusiasm and inspire future students, so I really encourage everyone to participate!

Love,
Ripa

jai ma!

love the energy going on here. i was just thinking that another way to approach some of the videos - which would require some editing skills and a little more planning - would be to create sort of like a montage of testimonials or quick blurbs from a variety of people about a certain subject. i'm just brainstorming here.
this would be good for those who are less comfortable with 5 minutes in the limelight and also offers an opportunity to share more individual experiences.

for example - oiling the body. since we're not going to show that whole process, this could open with someone just explaining about abhyanga and perhaps demo-ing a good set up, or mentioning one or two kinds of oils. and then could cut to some quick shots of others listing a few personal benefits they have gained from oiling.....vedika students or not (i'm sure we all have other friends who oil!)

on the downside, these vids might end up being longer and like i said, they require more planning. so maybe this is an ongoing thing.

any ideas? see you tonight!

love love love

For some reason, the Facebook page only allows me to post text or photo - not links or videos. Is it possible someone who is authorized as an admin for this page can post the video?

I will let Yuko know re: posting to the website.

Thanks, Divya - I wonder if you (and/or another Mitra) may be interested in taking over Vedika Facebook coordination while Shaaranya is busy with her newborn in the coming months (and no worries if not)?

We also need someone(s) to help with filming and editing for Shaaranya, who will be at school on Saturday and can help guide whoever's interested.

We can make an announcement before class about both of the above to see if there are others interested in these seva opportunities, but I thought I'd pose it to this group first, since these are important projects for our Mitra committee's purpose of spreading the word about Vedika.

Love,
Ripa

Jai Maa, This FB updating seva was something I did before Shaaranya took it on - I would love to open it up for another Mitra to coordinate.  Let me know if you are interested.

Vijaya, Mahi and all Mitras
Shaaranya has been shooting, editing and posting our videos on line -
we have almost the entire year caught up and spreading in teh
community.................lmost all our videos on u tube have moe than
50 looks (average) so this movement is beginning....and your home
videos and short clips will really get the word out even more but so
much easier to produce and adds so many more voices besides the same
(old) teachers : )

An imp point to keep in mind is that what she has done consistently at
end of each video and beginning of all videos is an insert the sam
etheme music plus caption - she has both clips if you want just ask
her for it

at the end of the home made videos if you too can add a caption that
simply says

To learn more check out Vedika Global's 2 -Month Self Care Course n
Ayurveda
that includes amazing easy to make recipes, lifestyle and seasonal
guidance and more
www.vedikaglobal.org - Califiornia, USA

that will help make it all so easy even if someone forgets to pitch in
the beginning : )

mahi your video may be long but it was fun to watch as you bring so
much life and excitement to it

I watched it with pride: ) so did Sanjai ji

keep up the good work Mitras from the flame ingnited in the inner
Vedika seated in your heart ......OM Swaha....

Gayatri Blessings,

Shunya
