It was heartening to read your email. It is only the modern wonders of
communication that can bind people unknown and far off with commonly
solicited interests. As you would know from my name, I am an Indian
myself from Patna, Bihar and am a graduate student in the University of
Iowa. I would be curious to know your perpective on the scriptures. I
am not a great philosopher myself nor do I intend to be. I believe in
karma and hope I would speak with my actions.

Hi Mr. Das,
How are you. Thanks for writing to me. Although I am not religious, I
have an active interest in learning about our country's history and
ancient knowledge. Vedas constitute a big part of that and I have
myself
downloaded and gone through various passages myself. Having studied
Sanskrit only till 10th grade, I am not upto the mark for deciphering
and have to rely on english translations, which at times are wrong and
misleading. At the same time, some vociferous propagators of Vedic
knowledge tend to exaggerate facts and figures which, instead of
helping
their cause, causes disbelief and amusement. I can not blindly follow
interpretations or hidden meanings without a reasonable support, but
still want to learn as much as I can without being biased towards or
against any stand taken by people.
It is in that sense that I liked your mail and I hope that your help
can
assist me with my interest in Vedas and the knowledge they contain.
Please add me to your mailing list so that I can receive the material

I am very interested in reading more about our culture. It would be

busy
spreading the word of Islam, so it would be a great deal hypocritical
if i
spread Hinduism at the same time, especially since i do not agree with
the
principles of your religion. I know a little about all of those books
and
texts you mentioned and am, as a PSU student, taking a religious
studies class
taught by a Hindu ( I am assuming due to her name) professor that
focuses a lot
on hinduism. I also have quite a few hindu friends. Its an interesting
experience, but we seem to be on opposite teams in a relay. I wish you
