...sort of.

A friend of mine imported half a container of electric scooters from
China. These were "sub-50cc-equivalent" scooters, meaning that they
did not require registration or insurance in MA. Unfortunately, they
did still require inspection, which required "papers", and the papers
never came from China.

So I rode it around a bit without an inspection sticker.

The problem was it wouldn't go over 27mph. Also, it's "failure mode"
when the battery ran out was not very graceful. I felt like a rolling
target in traffic.

I subsequently got a Vespa ET2-50, which will go 43mph on a level
road, again no reg or ins in MA. It keeps up with traffic perfectly in
Boston. I imagine in a bigger, more hilly, or more diffuse city, it
might not be quite as ideal.

I can't wait to hear Vectrix stories. Might even be enough to convince
me to get a M license etc.

Oh, and perhaps a Tesla, too...why not! (Well, I guess I can think of
a few reasons...)

FYI, if you didn't know already, in MA all you need is a permit, which
you can get as easily as a regular auto permit, it's good for 2 years
i believe, and it's renewable, the only restrictions are you can't
ride at night and you have people riding on the back.
