I don't know if this is a standard feature of slic3r or something Prusa have added, but searching google and this forum didn't seem to give any relevant results. At least if I knew the format I could write my own viewer.

I think the hardest part of writing the application will be to properly integrate with Explorer to present yourself as the thumbnail handler for .gcode files, guessing it'll be some COM garbage but have not personally tried.

I wrote a standalone application, it was quite straightforward. It displays the thumbnail and some other bits of info like the print time. It can also generate the png as separate files, so Windows preview can display them.

When registered it is used for *.gco and *.gcode files, checks the first 1000 lines to find a thumbnail and if it is present, then it gets the last of them (there can be multiple, my tests shoved two being generated, the first being 16x16px, probably for file-list preview) and returns it as the thumbnail image.

Currently there are no other info extracted but the SharpShell library I used to implement it allows another extensions modifying the tooltips, properties etc. so expected time, filament length and for example profile used might be added later.

I ran the install from your github link above, and after some of your assistance, I now have images for my gcode files ... which helps me find files much easier ...I really appreciate your efforts !!!

So... Who else whould love PSB thumbnails in Windows Explorer??

I installed Adobe Bridge only to see my PSBs. A single digital painting for me can run up to 15GB and take 2 weeks to paint so I need PSBs. A PSD file just doesn't cut the mustard any more. I use plugins like 'QuickLook' in Windows to preview files which is great but it doesn't work with .PSBs. I have never found anything that does. If anyone know of any plugin I'd love to know or if Adobe wants to build one (cough, cough) that would be great too

Thanks Bob, that worked a treat! I hadn't seen that before and it hadn't come up in any of my searches :magnifying_glass_tilted_right: I will have to make a YouTube video about it and spread the word Obviously I will give credit to you & Adobe Support Community!!

My trial just ran out and it changed all the thumbs to an image telling me that the trial expired. I was very unhappy about that. Not exactly the way I wanted to be notified. On checking the prices it is overly expensive. It jumps from $44 for over $100 if you want to use it on multiple devices. Shame. I will have to continue my search!!

I'm guessing you must be working on an older version of Windows then. All new versions are subscription per year and the creator has removed all older downloads. Shame about the price. I am fine with a subscription but given that this really only opens a couple more filetypes than Sage Thumbs (which is free) I feel it is too expensive. Oh how I wish @Adobe created an official Explorer pluggin.

Not sure about PSB though as I don't work with images over 2GB in filesize. I'm in the habit of merging & flattening complex groups out of necessity to keep my file sizes down. Old habits die hard, I guess.

Thanks @Nancy OShea Tried SageThumbs. It sadly doesn't support PSB files despite a lot of users asking for the addition in their forum. It is great for many filetypes and would be perfect if they would add that! Pitty.

I came here after searching for PSB thumbnail viewer. It's a bit mind-boggling that a jpeg preview isn't stored in the header for PSB's that can be read by bridge without reading the whole file. And that the only viable solution in the whole of the digital world is a $100 subscription ?

There is actually a free software that can show psb/psd file thumbnails. It is also a very good image viewing software, but sadly it is a Chinese adware. As a Chinese that has been using it for a while but have to uninstall it because I hate the popup, I am actually very disappointed that I still can't find a good alternative for it that has all the functions I need. Why can't famous image viewing softwares like glassimage be as good as it? Btw, the name is 2345 image viewer, someone please copy their ideas.

installed on windows ten. mystic thumbs v 322. two other files as well. screen started flashing white and throught I had a virus. changed profiles to get a stable screen. RAN SFC AND FOUND ERRORS. Ran a malware scan and found nothing. used revo to uninstall the program first and then the two ghosts scripts. Guess what in my main profile the screen stopped crashing loop and I was able to view the thumbs. I also installed the latest irfanview. So now i have no license no program srewing up my display and off I go to work on more hugh files from my nikon camera. Happy Happy Happy. Did anyone check the versions on that buggy program? Its a big job coding but maybe run in throught the aichat to check for errors?

Hi All, I am new here. I am using sketchup pro 2020 in microsoft windows 10 Pro system.
The thumbnails preview of the skp files cannot be seen in the folder for a while.
Is there anyone who can help me out?
Thanks in advance

I see many topics on this forum regarding correct thumbnails for pdf and eps and all of them don't have clear way how to make things done. So I want to show how to enable thumbnails of eps, pdf and many image formats for both 64 and 32 bit.

Tracker site is misleading as it states viewer is free on the one place and offer just to try it for free on another. But you can use this software for free indeed, the only difference is advanced features.

Now you will have thumbnails for a lot of image and postscript formats within DOpus. AI preview works only if file was saved with pdf compatibility. SageThumbs offer pdf preview option too, but it is unstable, it's better to use XChange for this.

That might be because PDF-XChange limits the size, or it might be because it is using an embedded thumbnail within the PDF files which is too small. So it could also be due to the software that creates the PDF files, rather than PDF-XChange.

Anyone have a favorite mov viewer that shows contact pages of thumbnails to scan through, for rapidly being able to scan through mov screecaps and when clicked on, quickly plays the mov in a movie player?

You are right! Adobe Bridge plays them, but not very confortable program.
I try to convert every mov I have to mov with photo jpeg compression, so windows 7 makes tumbnails for them. But again this codec is only for those clips that does not have alpha channel embeded.
I hope this helps a bit.

is there settings or a way to adjust the thumbnail preview in windows explorer, first pick is what it shows more commonly, but a few do show bigger as in the second picture attached, but does not have very go clarity, I would like to know if there is a way to adjust the clarity and have them all show as larger.

I have tested this way before I posted question here, as may initial question never pertained to this in the first place, but back to testing Thumbsize, it showed no changes in either AutoCAD or Windows Explorer in my opinion.

When we open a folder in windows 10 with bunch of svg images, i have to open each of them individually to know what image that is. It would be great if we had support for preview all of these images in one go using Extra Large/Large Icons from the View folder menu.

@artintech Yes. These also work. But I like to avoid 3rd party extensions as they tend to bloat up and slow down the system. Would be nice if we had built in support like it exists for other file formats such as png, jpeg, gif etc.

did you get the svg files to show up as thumbnails? I've toggled the thumbnail settings in the folder view options, and the "Adjust the appearance and performance of windows" control panel, but no luck.

FYI, this developer has migrated through the closing of Google Code, to CodePlex, and from there finally to Github. There is a version 1.1.0 from May-2019 available. (Not to be confused with 0.1.1 being offered at software.informer)

If you try to install the 0.1.1 version you get a big red UAC prompt telling you that your Administrator has blocked installation. For anyone curious why, it's because the signing certificate was explicitly revoked.

@joshie I recently did a clean installation of Windows on my machine and this message did not appear anymore. But before, looking for an alternative and not having, I gave up searching and installed the same. To my surprise, it went straight.

I found a COOL way to tweak windows explorer, to allow TGA files to be viewed as thumbnails (when you choose thumbnail view).
Currently only a few file formats are supported natively By Windows explorer (BMP.GIF.JPG.PNG.TIFF I thin is all)

Hi. Am working with webP for the first time seriously, and am struggling to find the solution to being able to see webP image thumbnails in file explorer on windows. googlefu is failing me. can anyone help me with this, because a default Open With app icon on the webP image isn't much help identifying the image, and having to open it to remind myself what it is is a pain.

secondly - and this may be a bug - i have the default Open With app set to Microsoft Edge, but the webP image icon is set to Affinity Photo (v2). It was Edge, but it's changed, and would seem to be Affinity taking over the icon after i wrked with a number of webP images. double clicking the image is still opening the image in Edge, as set, but the icon is Affinity. can anyone help me with these two issues?

WebP Image Extensions for me in Microsoft on Windows 11 says Open rather than Install, and when i open it it just opens the Windows Movies & TV app. My File Explorer is set to Large Icons always, but i tried toggling, and when i search through the list of installed apps, it's not there. webP opens fine on Microsoft Edge, which given the app description suggests that it IS there? but it's File Explorer thumbnails that's the problem. Do you have any idea what's going on here? I've tried installing Icaros, and the Google codec pack as well, without success.
