I was just wishing I could print double-sided straight from VDE, without
resorting to a Windows program to bring up Printer Properties... and of course
with a PCL6 printer, one can! (My HP M2727 is still working well in Win10.)

Just use the '...' initialization code option of the ^KP command, which is
easily set up on a function key macro:

^KP '[&l1S' ("[" = Esc, entered ^P Esc)

This is the only setting I ever change in Printer Properties anyway, so I'm
all set.

Hmmm. For a very long time I have set my printers to print duplex as their internal default, so unless I explicitly tell them NOT to do that, I get double-sided printouts anyway. There's usually a setting somewhere in the printer menu, especially for HP printers.

If I have to kill trees, I might as well kill half as many...

I print fairly seldom, and often just a single page which on duplex causes it
to be sucked in and spit out again anyway, so I've left the default single.

Of course one could have duplex as the default, and use '[&l0S' to select
single when desired. Much easier to have a duplex printer than use the old
option for printing odd pages the first time, then even on the backs...
