Dear Amazing, Kickass Women That I'm Proud to Know,

First, sorry if you're a member of WIN and are getting this twice! I'm writing because I've had the honor of being nominated for the Women's Media Center's 2013 Social Media Award! The winner (out of 12 nominees) is chosen -- quite appropriately, given the nature of the award! -- by online votes.

I'd *love* your vote. Voting closes Tues., 9/24.

Here's some info about me and the nomination --

I'm being recognized for my work with Collective Action for Safe Spaces, (CASS), a grassgroots group that works to empower people in the DC metropolitan area to build a community free from public sexual harassment and assault. We're responsible for the WMATA anti-sexual harassment signs you see on the metro, earned following our campaign for WMATA to establish a system -- including an online portal -- to report and track sexual harassment, as well as staff training. We also regularly testify before DC Council for policy changes in support of survivors, teach local bars on bystander intervention, engage in street art, and are working to bring a safe alternative to public transportation to DC.

I manage CASS's social media, which includes raising awareness about and fostering dialogue sexual harassment/assault issues in the DC area, connecting folks over Twitter/social media with tips to respond to and report sexual harassment, and leading online campaigns and petitions (like this one) for companies to ditch their sexist, pro-street harassment marketing. You can follow CASS on Facebook and Twitter.

CASS is tiny (just 4 unpaid, volunteer staff), but we've accomplished a LOT! Please take a moment to vote if you can. I'm up against some ***amazing** women, but it's worth a shot!

Thank you!

xoxoxo

Best,
Renee
