I made this myself, but feel free to suggest changes or alternatives. We need to make copies and get our posters out pretty damn soon. That can be done in one day though. We just need 3 or 4 dollars to make the copies to put around campus. Please pitch in, it's not that much! Also, DO NOT open the poster with Google documents. It won't look right. Open it on your own. Use the "open with" option if you don't want to download it. It'll look right when you do that or download it. Also, if you are working on putting the event together, please get in touch with me. Email me or call me at 804-698-0754. I might not answer the first time, but leave a message and I WILL call you back ASAP!

Thanks,

The date and time is a little larger than size 12 Times New Roman. It's bold. I think you are having issues opening the document because it looks fine here.

Well that is neat. I don't know how to make fancy pdf's or anything. I think it'd be perfect if you could include the names of the groups sponsoring it. I will put the posters up around campus if you can pitch in 3 or 4 dollars to pay for copies. I've been paying for poster copies all along, with no reimbursement.

Swanson will be in Florida, so he won't be coming. I'm going to print out and post the newest posters up this week. Thanks for them Vivek. I have one dollar. I just need two more and that should be enough to make adequate copies. Do any of you want to meet up with me and give me a dollar or two?

Thanks,
Nicholas

We don't have time for that Vivek. The posters need to go up by Wednesday. I just need to collect Kenneth's dollar and get one more dollar and that shold be enough.

I just put them in Harris, Hibbs, Temple, and Olivar Halls. I also put some in the commons. It would be great if you could get them put up in the library. I think regular size ones will do just fine for the library doors. We need to hurry up and get the three or four dollars together so we can post these things. We have less than a week. When can you guys meet up with me tomorrow? And where? There is only a few of us, so I can just reserve a room in the library. We need to make the copies, and discuss some things.

Do you have help in posting the fliers in heavily trafficked areas?  When are fliers taken down?  Do you wanna them posted in waves?  We should get a few larger ones made for the library doors and get the permission of John Ulmschneider or Chris Morrison or whoever is in charge of publicity/postings for VCU events at the library.

Just called VCU Cabell Circulation (804) 828 1111 to ask about permission to post on library doors and/or lobby.  Only library sponsored events are approved for publicity fliers.  Buuu.  The person I spoke with did say that the lamp posts were not library-controlled, so have at it!  It's unlikely that I'll be coming to campus much at all this week.

Any chance of putting up fliers at the engineering, business and medical campuses/buildings?

As I understand it, there are bulletin boards in the lobby of the library, and in front of the elevators of Cabell, on which fliers may be posted without permission.  The doors of the lobby and the larger posterholder in front of the Cabell Circulation desk is offlimits.  There must be places in the Engineering building, Sanger Hall, and Business and Ad school for general/public events.  If there are email lists for different VCU departments, courses, or undergrad student groups (MSA, etc), we should use those.  Who has volunteered to be in charge of these email lists?  Also, before sending out emails about the event, we should be certain the information is accurate and the message/style is effective.  If there's any way to meet to run through/go over the content of the email -- so that there are no omissions or misinformation -- the sooner the better.

It's important not to get into trouble over such a silly thing as not receiving permission to post; i would not consider that a useful implementation of civil disobedience. :-)

His name isn't on the fliers. Nor was it in the telegram message I sent. So don't worry about that. I know about the unmoderated boards in the library. I think they are something recent. Nobody is in charge of any email lists. And some of them from the my orgs website are inaccurate and defunct. If you want to meet with me tomorrow, I'm free after 11AM. But I live in Henrico and I'm not running back and forth between campus. So if you want to meet, come up with a time now. The flyers need to be up on Wednesday sometime. This stuff you mentioned, it's all stuff we should have figured out a long time ago. I'm sorry Brennan is incompetent, but really, we don't have time. We can't just poster Friday night or something. We need to hurry now.

Hi Nicholas,

I met with Jam and Mark after class today and discussed the RA event.  It's unfortunate that both main speakers have canceled, and that Brennan wasn't able to stay with the project.  Since the publicity for the screening is still in its early phase and word likely hasn't reached a very wide audience, and given the other important topics of the day, including global student political movements, civil disobedience, etc., we feel that it would be best to reschedule the screening.  The film could be part of a larger event later this spring with committed speakers (including faculty) and formal Q&A, other films, and could take place in a more appealing forum such as Grace St. Theater.  I know you've put many hours in trying to coordinate multiple aspects of the screening event, and we all appreciate it, but looking at our common goals of raising awareness about the costs of war, forming community-campus coalitions, and empowering people to become more politically active, the suggestion of postponing/rescheduling the film screening seems sensible.
