Hello all, and happy new year,

Below are three questions from Beth. Please send answers to the vcu-museums-exhibit email asap. Also, an interesting discovery. It turns out that the watercolor thought to be painted by Driskell (abstract flower-like design) is by James Herring. This info comes from Drikell. Interesting, don't you think?

1) in final student labels and checklist, I see that the sculpture on the initial list as "Attributed to Sargent Claude Johnson" has become just "Sargent Claude Johnson."  Can you tell me if the student working on this artist found key information to authenticate the work?

2) in the 1995 (Florida Ed Fund) catalogue, the John Robinson painting of the B A Gallery interior that we wish to picture on the text panel is titled:  "First Gallery (Portrait of Alonzo Aden) but the student text panel uses the title Barnett Aden, Interior.  Do you know the reason for this change?

3)  The student label states (of Perlmutter painting): " This work was featured in the second solo exhibition at the Barnett Aden Gallery."  In Abbott's diss. I do see Perlmutter's show there, but can't find any specific info that this particular work (or any mention of individual works) n view then. Do you recall any discussion of new documentation to support this?
