How to access VCO Web Portal from the Browser on your PC (WiFi and USB)?

This is a new feature for VCO 7, therefore, make sure you have upgrade to VCO 7 and also SyncCenter 7.

Web Portal allows user to access VCO contents from Web Browser on your PC through WiFi or USB:
Here are the feature highlights:

  - Create/Delete/Edit Notes, Tasks, Events, Contacts, Categories
  - Send SMS to contacts or group of contacts in SmartLinks
  - Send Notes, Tasks, Events, Contacts as SMS
  - View SMS Logs
  - Directory Listing
  - Filter items by folders/categories
  - Password protection (need to be enabled in Web Portal Settings)
  - Support SSL (Self-signed certification for encryption and need to be enabled in Web Portal Settings)


Access Web Portal using WiFi

Perquisites:

Make sure you can access your phone from your PC using WiFi network (e.g. your phone and your PC are on the same subnet). If you can sync VCO with Outlook using WiFi without problem, you network settings should be ready.
   
Steps:
  • Make sure WiFi is enable on your phone (not the 3g data).
  • On VCO Main screen, click the "Web Portal" icon.Then, click the "Start Portal Server" button. You should see a url on the screen which shows the url of web portal,  e.g: http://192.168.0.3:8833/portal
  • On your PC, start a browser, enter the address that you see on the VCO Web Portal screen. Here is the example:


Access  Web Portal using USB 
Remark: You don't need USB Extension to access Web Portal.

Perquisites :

Please make sure your  Android Debug Bridge (ADB) is working on your PC, here are the steps to enable it:
  • Make sure you have installed the USB Driver on your PC, which usually comes with your phone software (eg. HTC Sync, Samsung Kies, etc)

  • On your device, make sure the "USB Debugging" is enabled:
    • Click Settings > Applications > Development and make sure USB Debugging is on.
    • For Android 4.0+, click on Settings > Developer Options and make sure USB Debugging is on.
  • To test whether ADB is working on your  PC, on your PC, SyncCenter directory, you should see a adb.exe file.
e.g: C:\Program Files\Vecal\VCOrganizer\VCOrganizer\adb.exe
 
Connect your phone to your PC, with USB Debugging enabled
 
On your PC, open a command prompt, you can run the following command
C:\Program Files\Vecal\VCOrganizer\VCOrganizer\adb.exe shell ls
 
If it runs successfully, you should see a list of directories and files on your phone.
  • For customers they are using USB Extension, the Android Debug Bridge (ADB) should be working and they can skip this perquisites check.

Steps:
  • Connect your phone to your PC with USB.
  • Start the Web Portal from VCO (You don't need WiFi for this case).
  • On your PC, go to your SyncCenter installation directory, you should see a file called "portal.bat" (e.g : C:\Program Files\Vecal\VCOrganizer\VCOrganizer\portal.bat)
  • Double click the "portal.bat", it will start the Web Browser, and then connect to the Web Portal on your phone.

Remark: 
  • To simplify the steps, you can put the shortcut of portal.bat on your desktop.
  • Make sure you have installed SyncCenter version 7 or above, otherwise, you won't see the "portal.bat" file on your SyncCenter directory.
