Dear Ann, Les, Boris, Jim, Michael et al,

I just wanted to thank you all for hosting and excellent workshop.  This was a great experience, and I am much more confident at building more sophisticated simulations now.

Jim - if there is anything I can do to help with testing or developing membrane-membrane models, I would be happy to help with that.

Best regards,
Adam

Hi Adam,

I think your model is exciting and would love to provide some guidance in current best practices as well as discuss future work (not sure when I can find time for the future work).

I started a Google Doc and currently included one option that you can try right away.  There is also a slight variant of this approach which you may prefer.  Please take a look.

I've attached the model as a VML document ... "File"=>"Open"=>"local" to import into vcell.

After you've had a change to review, we can talk more ... and feel free to comment directly into the shared document.

here is a screenshot for reference:

Best regards,
Jim.

Hi Adam,

The 'simple variation' of the model above is to split the bac_mac_membrane membrane compartment (in the physiology) into two new membrane compartments (mac_mem_patch and bac_mem_patch)
* you can couple the two membrane compartments with reactions that interact directly with each other as well as their host cell.
* both membrane compartments must be mapped to the same surface in the geometry (for a spatial simulation).

Best regards,
Jim.

Thanks Jim for the speedy response.  I will aim to work on the model later this week/weekend.  I too am juggling a lot these days, but I will try to keep this one moving forward!

I am looking forward to working with the model you outlined above!

Bests,
A
