Hi everyone,

Just a reminder that if you want a free lift from the Derby train station to Drum Hill, you need to book seats as soon as possible.

Here is how many seats we have left:

13,00: 7 seats left
13,30: 24 seats left
14,00: 29 seats left
14,30: 20 seats left
17,00: 22 seats left

Please note that the coach that was leaving at 15,00 has been moved to 14,30!

If you want a place, please give me a shout.

Blue skies,
Magico Martinez.

Hi Magico

Can I book 11 places on the 2:30 bus? I'll need to double check numbers but it'll only go down by 1 or maybe 2 and definitely not up. Will email you with a definite number by Saturday.

Lucy

Hi Magico,

Thanks for the reminder. The two Sheffield districts (Porter and Don, and Derwent) would like 24 seats on the 1.30pm shuttle or failing that the 2.00pm or if we have to split the group so be it.

(We could come much earlier, anytime from 10.00am onwards if there was any chance of a lift at that time?)

Hoping you've still got some seats left, please let me know,

Thanks

Blue Skies

John Webber (Sheffield Derwent)

Hello,

What day are the shuttles for? I will be arriving with two other workers on Thursday 5th August at 13.40pm at Derby train station. If these shuttles are for the Thursday can I book 3 seats for the 14.00. We will be bringing a lot of stuff for the MEST-UP centre.

These are not for Thursday - for working week you need to get public transport. See here for bus times on Thursday.

Hi Andy,

Where do they need to arrive by 14,00? Heathrow or the train station?
Either way, it is possible, although they may have to wake up quite early.

Thanks,
Magico.

if you are taking public transport i would advise you use the 59 bus, it has the same distance to walk bus is a lot less hilly. it leaves the bus station at  *:35, ask for Morley moor and get off just after Morley lane. hope this helps

Hi Richard,

I got an email from Simon Cox this morning asking for the same, but this is the first email I get from you regards the matter.
Unfortunately we need over 30 people to book another coach on saturday.
All coaches before 17,00 have now been booked, so the only option available is public transport.
Here is a link with some of the options possible. I will give you a call in a bit to see what we can do about it.

Blue skies,
Magico Martinez

Hi Magico

Can you clarify if there are any coaches booked for before 2pm (even if they are now full)? I don't recall anything which said it would be afternoons only.

Hi Richard,

The first coach we have is for 13,00. Although it is true we never specified that they would be afternoons only, we booked them according most of the districts arrival times.

Hello Magico,

We have four people travelling from Penarth South Wales by train, ETA at Darby is 14:35, would they be in time for the 14:30 bus? if so could they be booked on this trip.
Are there any other bus times between 14:30 and 17:00 hrs. if their train is late?

regards David.

Hi David,

The 14,00 is full at the moment. I can book them on the 13,30 coach, where there are 4 places available. The coach will be probably late, and if not it will wait 5 or 10 minutes.

Blue skies,
Magico Martinez

Hello All

Before you wipe this list could everybody write a few words as to how you thought VCAMP2010 went.

I want to use the info gathered in our weekly meetings and will forward it to the camp committee for the next couple of camps.

Here is what I thought.

I thought it was the best venturer camp I have been to, it was my third.  The food was excellent.  There was a problem with milk going off so maybe we could consider smaller deliveries more frequently, or hiring fridges? Was it short dated?   My only gripe is that in village E & F we were not allowed to have fires, perhaps we could negotiate with the farmer on this point before the next camp.  Fantastic views though.

The main issue I would like you to address is the vennie, many lessons learnt about the harsh realities of a market society, put over in a light hearted way. However, an equal society can only be achieved if that is what the society wants.  The vote taken in our village was that adults be excluded from the second share out. I found this really very disturbing, having fought for equality in all areas of life, especially encouraging younger members within woodcraft folk to have a say as to how it is run and both locally and nationally.  I’m obviously not getting that right!

Was it the intention of the organisers that we should take direct action, some of our leaders did not want to cause disruption or impose sanctions so this was voted against in our village.

All of the adults there are pro youth, pro equality and pro the woodcraft folk, I don’t think the camp could be run without the presence and cooperation of the adult helpers please tell me if I am wrong.  Vtopia was well thought out and very well run, but the way the second share out was voted on was not fair and not democratic.  The general circle was told that it was a venturer workshop, nothing about there being a vote, what the vote would be about, or who was entitled to vote.  The only reason I was there was that I could not move very fast as I am waiting surgery on my knee!  With a full programme and DF’s, KP’s and camp chief’s needing to attend other meetings and start their own workshops, all of the other adults and most of the DF’s had already left the circle.

Maybe the some younger members think that the adults do not pay for camp or that they are paid to attend, or even that we were allowed to use sterling at camp..  All of my district pay the same, even the driver paid to attend and paid for his share of the transport costs.

VTOPIA, brilliant idea, not explained and not democratically executed.  If this had happened would the vote have been different?  I would like to think so.

Many thanks to all involved.

Heather Campbell
