Hi everyone,

A couple of months have passed since Venturer Camp. Hopefully you all enjoyed it as much as I did.

But now it is time to start planning for the next Venturer Camp.

We are holding a one day event on Saturday the 6th of November. The venue will be at De Monfort University, in Leicester. We will start at around 11 and we will be finished by 5,00. Please be at 10,45 in front of the Queen’s Building.

We will be asking for feedback. We really do want to hear all your opinions, whether they are good or bad, small or big, they are all important. All this feedback will be taken into account for CoCamp, so it is very important you come and express your opinions.

Even more importantly, we will also be choosing the theme for Venturer Camp 2013. So if you want to get involved, you can do it now.

Some of the things we will be talking about are the centres, the programme, the wide game, the carbon game, vennies, venue, etc.

As an extra, Leicester celebrates bon fire night on the 6th, so you can always stay the night and enjoy your weekend in the midlands!

If you would like to come, please let us know at vc...@woodcraft.org.uk. We would LOVE you to be there J

Many thanks,

Magico Martinez

Hi,

I have sent this round our venturers and will try to encourage some people to come down. That said, this is really short notice (less than a week!) and doesn't seem like a very good or fair way of getting people involved in feedback or planning the next one. Not a very inclusive way of going on and very unlikely to get many people involved that aren't already.

Thanks,

Eilish Ferry-Kennington

Just to make it clear. The meeting will be evaluating this year, thinking what went well and what could be better and feeding in to the theme. The theme will be finally set nearer the time by Ventures and their newly elected committee in 2012/13.

Did we miss an earlier notice about this?
I agree with Eilish - rather short notice to expect Venturers (and
leaders) to be able to make arrangements to travel across country -
and disappointing as if we'd known this was coming it would have been
a good opportunity to encourage some of our less involved Venturers to
voice their opinions.... always good for future camps!
Anyway I guess we'll have to assume that those "in the know" are
really "in the know" and can therefore represent the views of the
rest....!
Just a thought - if people can't go but want to give feedback
presumably an email to Magico or Lloyd will still allow their views to
be heard?

Also agree this is far too short notice, not nearly enough time to see if any of our venturers want to come or gather feedback from them.

I probably won't make it, was going to try and bring our vent for this + the committee meeting afterwards but he can only make the Sunday.

As with preceding e-mails it is far too short notice for us also -I have asked our leaders that attended to feedback via the google groups and am having a feedback session with Venturers tonight -will consolidate and send back before the weekend -however as this may not be possible for other groups to do in time could I suggest some kind if feedback form or area is added to the V camp website (unless there is already one and I have missed it?) if this is done perhaps link can be e-mailed out to e-groups with a reasonable deadline? (eg before next V camp planning)
anyway camp was great (what I saw of it) well done to all that organised and ran.

Oh, and last bit of feedback. We definitely agree that there were way too many DFs there. The ones that are there need to be role models, not behave like they are on DF camp. I’m sure most were great, but again, just a few ‘bad’ ones change the perceptions of them all dramatically, and that’s a real shame. There is so much good that should come from peer education, but so much harm that can be done as well.

hi all

I agree with Kevin

I did my best to limit the number ( & quality ) of DFs that we took with us but was undermined somewhat by the organisers in 1 particular case

the alcohol/drug discussion might possibly change if all DFs were only there as positive role models & were all working most of the time, not just there because they wanted to party

however despite that problem this was by far the best Venturer Camp ever

there was plenty of things to get involved in for everyone

our venturers had an amazing time & still talk about it

Fab :
Vcamp team
venturers
most DFs & kinsfolk
programme
vennies
v time
the centres - especially the tea-room ( not enough cakes ! )
wide game ( including the opportunity for leaders workshops )
site
village D ( xxx )
walks
food
solar showers
