Position: SQL/ETL Developer
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Duration: Long Term

Responsibilities:

• The primary responsibility will focus on developing SQL queries, SSIS packages, stored procedures, data warehouse load process, etc.
• Tune and optimize current ETL jobs for performance and throughput.
• Apply business and database analysis skill to gain deep understanding of user’s needs and aid in the definition and creation of solutions that meet the needs of the business users
• Comprehensive documentation of all developed software & repositories and assist in documenting and maintaining requirement specification document
• Gather user requirements and functional specifications along with understanding and interpreting business requirements
• Assist with troubleshooting efforts for ETL job issues related to pre-production and production
• Develop custom database objects, stored procedures, functions, and T-SQL
• Design and implement SSIS packages and other ETL processes
• Communicate the status of project and planning activities with customers and team members
• Analyze existing SQL queries for performance improvements.
• Data mapping, transformation and performing ETL based on complex logic.
• Troubleshoot slow performing queries and ETL load process
• Enhance and support data warehousing and data management projects along with ETL development
• Responsible for query optimizations and performance tuning of various MS BI objects
• Design system integrations as required for extracting data for reporting purposes
• Mapping of data sources, data movement and reconciliation with the goals of ensuring data quality & consistency and the ability to satisfy relevant business requirements by following best BI practices.
• Collaboration with business analysts and business stakeholders to ensure a thorough understanding of strategic data requirements.
• Data analysis / data profiling to understand gaps, inconsistencies and other quality issues in existing source system data, and develop data sourcing solutions, as well as collaborating with stakeholders to identify, document and implement corrections / business rules / work-arounds.
• Ability to set and manage own priorities effectively in a dynamic and high performing team.

 
Skills/ Qualifications:

• Expert-level programming skills with 7+ years’ work experience in SQL Development including  - SQL Server 2012, 2016 and Visual Studio 2015
• Strong verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Must be able to communicate with business users in non-technical terms. Experience with the Financial Services industry is desired
• 7 + years of Experience in ETL and in designing and coding SSIS packages
• 5-7 years of experience in SQL Server Performance Tuning and Query Optimization
• Experience writing complex Stored Procedures, Functions, and views using SQL
• Excellent organization and communication skills with the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and within expected timeframes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent at interpreting and analyzing data.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and/or as a member of a team.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work as part of and with high performing teams.
• Sound understanding of relational and non-relational databases.

Nice to have:

• Experience in Spotfire, Power BI or any reporting tool is a plus.
• Experience with Database Administrator roles (backup, restore, security) a plus
• Experience working in Azure cloud environment.
