Nominations Open For 2017 Twin State Baseball Classic Team

Coaches-

It's a busy time of the year with our two big events, the Twin State Baseball Classic and the VBCA Junior Showcase the same week.

Your should have received the showcase registration information earlier today. We also need nominations for your seniors for the 2017 Twin State Baseball Classic.

This year's Twin State Baseball Classic will be hosted by New Hampshire, a doubleheader, on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Memorial Field in Concord, N.H. Tentative time for game one first pitch is 11 a.m.  

The Vermont coaches are Marcel Girouard of Burlington. Bob Lockerby of Bellows Falls, Mike Czok of Randolph and Roy Sargent of Missisquoi Valley.

Be aware that seniors from ALL schools throughout the state are eligible for the team and that we need help from all coaches evaluating these student-athletes. We have representatives from each league plus the four Twin State coaches that will meet, in-person and/or via conference call on June 4th to select the team.

A. Please send your senior nominations to Bruce Bosley (bbosle...@gmail.com or bos...@comcast.net), to your league rep, or to one of the four coaches. More important than their batting average, we need their cell phone number.

Note: Make sure your nominated seniors are AVAILABLE to play in the game, and be in Concord the entire day. We have had selections the past two years that could not make it due to other commitments, that's going to happen, but one or two let us know late in the process. A note to American Legion coaches- this is a nice state-wide honor and the honored players will miss just one day.

B. Keep an eye out for seniors on your opponents for help in the evaluations throughout the season

Also please  let Bruce Bosley know your all-league teams when they are determined following the regular season, regardless of class (Sr., Jr., So., Fr.), We will post them on our website for greater exposure.

Lastly, please keep June 22 open if you can help us at the Showcase. We will need help from coaches to administer the 2017 Junior Showcase slated that day at Castleton.

Hey Folks, 

This is a great article on a legendary coach, Dave Ploof, that passed away recently in South Dakota. Working with the Cannons Summer program we had the privilege to meet Dave years ago. He was incredibly generous with his time and we learned a great deal about his organizational structures for his team and parent groups. 

There are some incredible numbers in this article reflecting decades of dedication to the community and to building young men into better people.
