Vermont Baseball Coaches Association Mourns the Loss of Baseball Veteran William 'Bill' Flory

It is sad to report that William 'Bill' Flory of Rutland passed away on April 23, 2018 at the age of 90. Throughout a lengthy and fruitful career, Flory was involved in all levels of amateur baseball in Vermont for over six decades.
A Rutland native, Flory coached the Rutland American Legion for 46 seasons (1953 to 1989) capturing nine state titles. He also was an umpire and official for many sports. He was a former president and current secretary/treasurer of the Vermont Baseball State Alliance Association, was a charter member and current secretary/treasurer of the Southern Vermont Baseball Umpires Association and was the current co-assigner for varsity baseball for the Marble Valley League. Not many in the state have had a hand in baseball as long as Bill.
