Buy the way, I have a 2 meter ssb radio know, TS-711A and also
Now have an TS-811A (which I need to find a tone board for).
All I have at the moment is vertical for 2 meter sideband.
Any nets around that I can try to check into and is 144.200 the calling
frequency?
Wayne
Thanks Brian, I just ordered a couple and they should be in by the end of the week. I have
The tnc ready except for the din plug. I’ll call you as soon as I get it done so that we can make the
Tnc change at the site.
THE PROBLEM IS: neither one has been on the air for several months. Richard
down in Miami (W4RCC) tells me he will start the net again sometime after
the first of the year when he finishes his tower replacement. As for the
Daytona net, I spoke to George (KI4FIA) a couple of months ago on 2m ssb but
no news about the net was available. Both nets were very active and use to
have a lot of participation. We will have to wait and see.
I have a brainer!!!! Let's start our own 2m ssb net. Only one problem, you
had better be horizontal with your antenna. I need to talk to you if you are
serious about 2m ssb. You do not need boomers with 20' booms unless you are
hurricane proof. All my antennas went thru 3 hurricanes with no problems.
By the way, I have attached some pics of a 2m 5 element yagi I am building
now. It has 10 dB of gain and is for 2m ssb. It has a 6 foot boom of 1"
square heavy wall aluminum for the boom and the elements are 3/8" od heavy
wall aluminum tubing. All hardware is stainless and the design is my own.
All I have let to do is to assemble and attach the gama match, tune her up
and spray her with 6 coats of Krylon clear sealant. I bet this one will be
as good as one from M2, Mosley or another high priced antenna.
I attached some pics of what I have up now. I am going to stack another
A43011S UHF ssb yagi under the one I have now.
On a related note, I hope to be able to visit ARRL HQ on January 4th or 5th
and operate W1AW. Maybe I'll get to work someone back here!
