I've been so busy I haven't had much of a chance to use or evaluate the free trial version of WavePad and just wondering how long the free trial version lasts. I can't find any mention of it on the web site or downlad page. All I've seen is a pop-up window when I opened WavePad the last time that said something like "Your trial version of WavePad will end soon."

The free version of WavePad is a version we make for promotional purposes (eg. on CDs, marketing programs etc) and therefore not always readily available, which causes confusion for people who see it on some third party web sites and follow the links to our WavePad Masters page.

With all due respect, this response doesn't answer my question and the link provided sends me right back to the same page from which I originally downloaded the program....and a page that doesn't provide any information regarding the duration of the free version. In fact, I've read this exact response to other posts so is obviously a "canned" catch-all response. Very disappointing.

Good day. According to NCH, , the free version last forever - it's freeware, so they say. If it is not, then they could be cited for false representation. I have several NCH products and I am reasonably happy with them, but some only have a brief trial version of 14 or 30 days or whatever, then the "nag" screens start. I have two copies of the WavePad Master's Edition (bought and paid for on two computers), so I can't say for certain that WavePad (free version) is good forever, as the website states.

Appreciate the response, Phil. Actually, just today when I opened WavePad, I received a notice that the time had expired but the program will keep working without some of the professional features. So we'll see what happens.

Amber, since March 2008 I have not used wavepad. Some how I still get email notifications of new postings which are annoying. Unsubscribe is so convoluted that I have given up. I have directed my email server to direct all email notices to my deleted files mailbox, which i have to trash frrom time-to-time.

Hi, I been using the free trial for the past year. When the 14-day free trial expires, I usually delete it from the computer by going into the control panal and deleting the program. But recently, I had done that and tried to download the free-trial a week after deleting it and all that pops up is that "The trial version had expired. You must purchase to continue to use it." message. The strange thing is that i had deleted the free-trial from the control panel a week ago once it expired. And now it wont let me use the WavePad on the free-trial.

Let's say I have two similar audio files in different format (such as MP3 and AAC) from the same master (CD audio or WAV file) and I want to find some differences of quality between the two files. (to examine their quality change and compression techniques)

I did some research on it and figured out a way that I can overlay the two wave shapes (or spectrogram pattern) and cancel out the identical part so that the leftover can demonstrate the better effectiveness of one of the formats.

Can Wavepad from NCH Software actually do that kind of function? It is the only audio software I found that can open AAC files (Reaper and Audacity can't) so I hope it would contain a function like that, but since I am a newbie on this, I have no idea how to actually overlay the two files and delete identical parts. I also searched the Wavepad wiki but no idea.

Shuffle the start positions until you line them both up to sample accuracy - this can either be time-consuming or impossible, depending on whether your files are actually time-aligned & coherent for their entire duration.

My go-to audio editor is Adobe Audition. I have been using it pretty much every day for the last decade (more actually). It is professional and powerful. I use it for all the things I mentioned above (cleaning up audio, getting rid of noise, fixing problems, etc.). I also use it to master final versions of songs after they have been mixed down/rendered in my DAW (I use Reaper for that).

The reason for doing it this way is that the EQ settings used to eliminate the bad sounds would make the rest of the audio sound worse. So you have to do things surgically. But with RX, they have presets (that you can tweak, of course), with intelligent programming such that you can select large sections and even entire audio files to apply fixes ONLY to the problem areas and have the rest of the audio still sound great.

WavePad is a versatile audio editing software that has proven to be reliable and enjoyable for users across various industries. Customers have found it particularly useful for recording, mixing, and mastering audio from anywhere, allowing for quick distribution in various formats. The software's simplicity and non-cluttered interface have made it a preferred option among other premium DAWs and audio editors. Its accessibility on multiple platforms at a low price has also made it a popular choice.

One of the key use cases of WavePad is for mixing and merging soundtracks for presentations and commercial purposes, ensuring seamless transitions. Users have praised its quick installation process and professional in-built tools, which provide high-quality recordings. Additionally, WavePad has been utilized for creating custom ringtones, trimming audio productions, and recording voices, streamlining workflow and saving time.

The availability of WavePad on laptops and as an iPhone app has allowed users to edit music quickly for their businesses, even while on the go. Its ability to edit audio files at any interval makes it equally useful for personal projects. WavePad has also been recommended for its ability to clean up vocals and enhance audio quality, even on mobile devices.

Beyond traditional use cases, WavePad has been used by some users to listen to audio evidence from paranormal investigations, enabling them to catch previously unheard sounds. Furthermore, customers have found WavePad useful for mixing sounds for school functions and saving time by editing existing audio files instead of creating new ones.

WavePad's value extends to simple audio file editing, sound processing, opening a wide range of formats, editing WAV and MP3 files before manufacturing or adding them to iTunes libraries, redacting sensitive materials in interviews, efficient cutting and mixing of music, audio restoration from cassette-tape sources, preparing files for CD archiving, editing audio files for background music in ads, creating and editing voice-overs for audio and video ads, and enhancing audio quality with tools like noise removal, compression, and equalization.

The software also offers features such as converting stereo to mono, converting file formats, and creating ringtones that have been utilized by customers in their work. Overall, WavePad's range of user-friendly features has made it a versatile solution for various audio editing needs.

Ease of Use: Many users have praised WavePad for its user-friendly interface and intuitive tools. They have found it easy to navigate, with well-organized menus and quick start wizards for various tasks. The simplicity and straightforwardness of the software make it suitable for both novice users in 2013 and small-time producers and DJs.
