Caro Luca, tante grazie!
It seems you are VERY well advised on the subject of our course by the people who know much
more about representations of finite groups, than I do. In fact, Lino Di Martino got his Ph.D. in
Birmingham on EXACTLY this subject, together with our common close Iranian friend, Reza Darafsheh.
Lino is my CLOSEST personal friend EVER, whom I've met after graduating the University as a
student. He is a person of IMMENSE culture and influenced my life in many ways. He first brought me
to Italy back in 1990 (Milano, Firenze, Roma, Padova and Venezia), and then drove me from Milano to
THIS part of Italy (Pisa, Massa Marittima, Siena, Montepulciano, Montalcino, Orvieto, Perugia, Assisi,
Gubbio, Spoleto, Todi, ...) in 1992. EXACTLY 2 weeks ago, on Bastille Day, he turned 70, and in October
there will be a Group Theory conference in Gargnano in his honour, so I'm obviously coming to MIlano
and Lago di Garda for the event.
We are also very close with Thomas Weigel, both mathematically, and personally. To say that Thomas
taught in Perugia LAST August is quite a bit of an understatement. In fact, lately he teaches algebra course
in Perugia every even year, while I'm teaching it every odd year.
I'm not switching to the Meneghin mode, since that would bring us far too far.
