Agree. RDH could verify if new code which we may be grandfathered in or if in fact code was not met in 2006.

No one on the BMC has the expertise to weigh in.  Perhaps Jerry Jay could.  Curious though, this has gone unnoticed for 20 years. Apparently passed some kind of inspection in 2006.  RDH has done building inspections including the roof and we have a maintenance contract with USA Mechanical. If this was a serious issue, why would it have not been identified before?

Not sure what to think about the Install manual “install K” reference.

It was brought to my attention that while USA Mechanical was on site last Friday to replace the ignitor on water heater #1 and to replace all the exhaust elbows, a member of their team also began work to extend the roof exhaust vents without authorization, and one has been completed. We had requested a quote for that work but never received one.

I spoke with management at USA Mechanical yesterday. They confirmed we will not be charged for the unauthorized work and offered a sincere apology. They have been instructed that we must receive and approve a written quote before any additional work is performed.

Tim Ackely — have you heard back from Kathleen at RDH regarding this matter?

If the Board wishes to proceed with extending the remaining vents, please let me know and we will add the item to the agenda for the May meeting to allow for board discussion and direction.
