Yes. In my experience they usually give an estimated time for completion in their bid… and then we put that in the contract

Hal – here are my edits and comments. They should be viewable in redline. One thing I noticed is there is no specific time for completion. I never like to have a construction contract without a fixed end date. I don’t necessarily care what the amount of time is – we can give them a few extra days. But we need an end date. I’ve had this issue with TKE before. So if they say it’s a 90 day job and we want to give them 100 or 105 days – that’s fine. But I don’t want it to be open ended.

The Vaux Board of Directors is preparing to hire TKE to refurbish and modernize our buildings’ 4 elevators. We have a contract that looks acceptable to us, provided you review and approve.
Here are some of our residual concerns:
• The contract specifies a schedule of values that is not actually present in the document.
(Bill Greenland has told us that TKE won't furnish an itemized list)
• Is The Vaux going to be unreasonably exposed to litigation in situations for which TKE
refuses to take responsibility (p23-24) ?
> moves in or out that get stalled because of the work in progress
> any other situations where it appears The Vaux is "left holding the bag"
If your review suggests we can sign this contract, please expedite your response.
(If we don't sign something very soon TKE will be free to revise our costs upward, and
Bill Greenland is concerned that may actually happen.)
