Below is an email I just received from Jan Westwater regarding extreme heat preparation. The director of the Person Centered Emergency Preparedness Program has offered to visit us to provide information to our residents.

It strikes me as a worthwhile service we could offer residents. If we are interested, Jan can provide us with more details.

What are your thoughts?

Tim,

Today I was in a meeting with Upstream Access, the organization that sponsored Doug and me in the Person Centered Emergency Preparedness Program last year. For the summer the group is focussing on being prepared for Extreme Heat. Erin, the director, offered to come to the Vaux and have a table in one of the lobbies where she and I would offer personalized 'Extreme Heat Kits' and information to senior (over 55) residents. When I told her our building is air conditioned, she smiled and said, "Until it fails." Having had that happen to me one summer I know how that feels..

I can fill you in on more details if you think the BoD would be interested.

Jan is doing great work, and I'm sure it's of value, but I'm not interested for myself.  If the Board finds it to be of value, and wants my participation, I'll participate.
