What is the emergency communication system authorization agenda item? What is the action item to be discussed?

The E-Prep committee knows nothing about it. Nor do I. Please shed some light on it.

Thanks,

Tim

I think Hal wanted a discussion on ‘WHO PULLS the TRIGGER’ for alerts.

I think the discussion would result in a resolution asking E-Prep to come into a future meeting with recommendations. Hal, is that what you were thinking?

Hi, BODers — I want to get the emergency notification system operational as soon as possible. My preference would be a motion that any BOD member can pull the trigger. My preferred fallback would be that the BOD and Eprep Committee members could also pull the trigger. However, I’m willing to entertain any message that pleases the BOD, including the forwarding of a recommendation from the Eprep folks to be discussed in the hazy July future.  -- Hal

It would seem to me that we can create a checklist of criteria for when an alert is appropriate and by using a checklist, we can open that up to the E prep committee as well, not just board members

This year? Sorry to be cynical. The system is in place. What doe our BOD want to do?  — Hal

As I recall in an earlier discussion, I mentioned that the goal of the emergency communication  system should be to get the info out as soon as possible.  To my mind that would mean whoever sees/is informed of an incident “pulls the trigger” then IMMEDIATELY informs all others so that only one message is sent.

To be clear, I am including the EPrep Committee as well as BoD in my comment. No good reason to exclusively put this in the hands of board members.

I believe that the manuals the E-Prep Committee created include recommendations for several scenarios. I will contact them this morning and ask them to extract them for the discussion.

I like Joe’s recommendation of creating a checklist. I think the checklist should be created by the E prep committee, and approved and adjusted by the board.

Good idea, Joe. You read my mind. I will post the section after I locate it.

I just sent a request to the E-Prep folks to prepare a brief summary of possibilities and response recommendations. Short notice, but I think they already have what we need for discussion.

Attached is one page I extracted from the manual. It lists 9 emergency categories, the "what," but the "when" and "who" need more definition. This should be helpful. I am awaiting a response from the committee that may point me to additional documentation.

I asked the committee to prepare something for us that includes what, when, and who recommendations that are more specific than the guidelines in the section I found.

this is great, Tim.
If we had one chart with SOP, Category, Do's, Owner, etc.... it would be a PERFECT poster for the bulletin boards and refrigerators

Clearly,  a lot of thought and work went into this.
