Windows images include drivers to support many of the most popular PCIE ethernet and wifi devices. Starting with Windows 11, a set of these drivers are available as Features on Demand to make it easier to save disk space by removing drivers that aren't applicable to your device.

Hello, I was wondering if its possible to install Windows 10 i225-v ethernet drivers on Windows 7?
I know that i225-v drivers are specifically made for windows 10, but is it possible to edit the inf files of the drivers to make it compatible with windows 7? If so, how? Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Now, if I can find a driver mod for the WiFi 6 AX card I will be set with all of the "incompatible" hardware working perfectly on Windows 7. I even have the NVIDIA RTX Type-C drivers working on Windows 7 now. Screw the Redmond Retards, the Green Goblin and all of their lies about incompatible hardware. The only thing incompatible with Windows 7 is the degree of their incompetence.

The adapter works just fine while logged in. It is just the pxe boot. I have updated all the drivers (through windows updates). Also the driver version in device manager is the latest (10.4.124.2017).

Having similar problems with Surface Ethernet Adapter model 1821, Windows 10 1607 ADK. Even after adding in the latest Surface Ethernet Adapter drivers into the SCCM drivers database and into our boot WIM, and after updating the Surface Pro 4 UEFI firmware and drivers, I still cannot successfully PXE boot to most SCCM distribution points. What happens is that the TFTP download of the boot wim initiates but then it hangs up and never finishes. I do have specialized RamDiskTFTPBlockSize and RamDiskTFTPWindowSize settings. The only way I was able to get a successful PXE boot at all was to strip out these settings out of the DP's registry completely and use the WDS default settings. This allows for a verrrrrrry slow boot into WinPE - ten to fifteen minutes or more. Obviously stripping out these settings causes issues for all other model adapters and is not a solution for us.

I know this has been a dormant topic for a few months, but I just worked through the issue myself. After trying multiple drivers for the Model 1821 adapter I was finally able to get it to work with Surface Ethernet Adapter 8.22.124.2017.
