Fellow aviators,

I have TWO good news for you:

1.       Group flight debrief is back due to the good (4+) number of crowd gathered today J

2.       I have managed to tweak the VATSAP gallery so that you can upload FULL RESOLUTION images: all you need to do is to set the gallery image size to more than your screen-clip resolution (in my case 1024x768).

Debrief:

Mangalore this evening was a busy tarmac with AXB101, AIC0006 and AIC096 happily boarding self loading cargo, which is also known as ‘passengers’ (no insult meant to passengers). Pilots don’t want to be late, and soon enough, planes started taking off: AIC096 followed by AXB101 and AIC0006. AIC0006 had a ATHR problem but a skilled and confident PIC decided to go ahead. As soon as AIC0006 defeated gravity, AI0066 could be seen at the gates getting ready to follow suit. Climbout through the broken cloud in mild turbulence was pleasant and soon everyone were leveled off at cruise altitude. Flying over Calicut and Cochin was fun with the 123.45 frequency bustling with aviation humor as well as serious air-talk. Top of descent was business as usual, with AIC096 coming down late and high. The crew entered a 1 min holding at  MDI DME 38 to FL100 and continued with visual approach into RW09. No. 1 at Madurai was AXB101 followed by AIC096. Landing onto the 6000ft runway was tight but both crew handled things well. As AIC096 and the rest of the entourage vacated 09 the event came to a close. In the end, it was fun again after a period of idling. Plans for the next hope is already in progress, and it looks like it will be another short and thrilling hop, somewhere in India…

Stay tuned!

On behalf of VATSAP, I would like to thank everyone for their participation. We hope to you and the rest of the VATSAP family at our next group hop.

The distinguished PICs were:

AIC096 Tanveer Yasser 1009883

AXB101 Aman Bhardwaj 1071870

AIC0006 Bhavesh Ardeshana 1066305

AI0066 Vincent Thomas 971933

+1

Take care and best regards

The brief continued.....

After AXB101 and IAC096 had landed, and IAC crew had retired to the hotel, AIC0006 commenced the 11 DME arc approach for rwy 09. While on the ground, ANZ105 showed up on the crossing rwy as AIC0006 entered the final.
Things took a wild turn as ANZ105 started its takeoff roll as a result of which the experienced crew AIC0006 decided to go around. This time when AIC0006 came on final for rwy 09, ANZ appeared on final for rwy 27! But this time AIC0006 decided to take revenge and touched down before ANZ, which had to go around this time! But this was not all!
Just as AI0066 appeared on the final, ANZ was once again seen on final just a mile behind AI0066 clearly showing its naughty intentions. What followed was one of the most spetacular landing sequences as both AI0066 and ANZ105 touched down within 200 ft of each other!
After all this was over, ANZ105 was called upon by VOMF_CTR(the crew of AXB101 wanted to have some fun!) for lessons on online flying and giving way to aircraft and how not to do aerobatics with a B777-200!! ;-)

Ok, ok, i'll stop now!  But Tanveer, it was sooo funny watching all this, you should have been there!

Aman

Ah! I missed that (had an appointment with the airconditioner mechanic) … who was this ANZ guy anyway?

I really enjoyed the short hop. That’s how VATSAP group flights should be: short 1-1.5hr thrillers like a football game – your blood rushes down the veins and arteries for a while, then sit back, relax and enjoy the screenshots :D.

Speaking of which, I think we can begin planning our next hop.  Madurai is not a bad place to fly out (decent runway, 4-place apron even on default scenery, TWO intersecting runways like Mumbai). How about we fly out of Madurai? Options are:

a.       Colombo (190NM)

b.      Chennai (227NM)

c.       Bangalore (204NM)

Any other plans (VOMD included or not) are also welcome, please share ideas.

I enjoyed the fun with that ANZ guy, I really did not know that he liked an Airbus backside ;) that the boeing plane flown by ANZ was aiming right for my back. I liked his timing though :D

Ya I totally agree with Tanveer, cruise can get boring at time if its a long one, the excitement should be like a football match, 20 - 30 mins max of cruise and then descent. The coordination for landing was great and AIC0006 had mentioned that the landing is going to be great, he truly said the right thing, the approach was great, mountains made it interesting to find the runway and maintain correct altitudes.

Nice flying with you guys, will see you again next time.

Vincent
