This table of file signatures (aka "magic numbers") is a continuing work-in-progress. I had found little information on this in a single place, with the exception of the table in Forensic Computing: A Practitioner's Guide by T. Sammes & B. Jenkinson (Springer, 2000); that was my inspiration to start this list in 2002. See also Wikipedia's List of file signatures. Comments, additions, and queries can be sent to Gary Kessler at g...@garykessler.net.
This list is not exhaustive although I add new files as I find them or someone contributes signatures. Interpret the table as a one-way function: the magic number generally indicates the file type whereas the file type does not always have the given magic number. If you want to know to what a particular file extension refers, check out some of these sites:

"Paper white" backgrounds, such as photo.net's default, cause severe eyestrain for many folks. When a monitor is calibrated for ideal display of photographs it's far too bright and contrasty for extended sessions of reading plain text against a white background.
The incredible quality and speed of Blackmagic RAW makes it ideal for virtually any type of production. The pristine camera native quality of Blackmagic RAW Q0 or 5:1 is perfect for effects heavy feature film and commercial work, where you need the highest possible quality. Blackmagic RAW Q5 and 8:1 are extremely high quality making them great for episodic television and independent films. Blackmagic RAW quality is so high, you can even use 12:1 and 18:1 settings for incredibly small files that are suitable for all kinds of uses such as broadcast news, live sport events, digital signage, A/V, corporate video, weddings and more!
The new constant quality options preserve image quality by completely removing the upper data limit. That means complex frames will be encoded at higher data rates to preserve detail and maintain quality. Only constant quality ensures quality levels never suffer. Blackmagic RAW Q0 has minimum quantization and yields the highest possible quality, while Blackmagic RAW Q5 uses moderate quantization for more efficient encoding and a smaller file size. Blackmagic RAW now includes two additional Q1 and Q3 options!
Im with Colleen. I will have to read this a few times to get a good understanding. Rule of thirds I understand, but I didnt realize that mathmatecally its actually skewed a little from that. Great example Marc, Im glad you put that there. Unfortunately, Im a person that needs a visual, a picture, a diagram, a flowchart, etc. to understand a lot of things. I definitely live by a photo is worth a 1000 words, its where I get my comprehension and ability to retain the concept.
I met a girl once (who was working at an assistant at my ex-girlfriend's photography business) who had a Spira Mirabilis tattooed on her upper arm (vertical orientation, rather than the horizontal version above). She was impressed that I knew what it was . . .
I do actually have a grid screen in camera, can't see that I use it for rule of thirds/golden mean but it would help for that, maybe I do subconsciously. Most of my photography ends up being rule of thirds however subconsciously, added to that I mentally split the scene into thirds horizontally and thirds vertically and 'think' that way.
I find that the rule of thirds or the golden mean are important in that you use them to lead the eye into the photo, compostion is more than just making a photo asthetically pleasing, one should use the composition to 'make' the photo, the express what the photo has to say by making sure the eye works it's way into the photo the way you intend.
These are the Linux variations that we support. If your system is not on the list, try installing from source. Although ImageMagick runs fine on a single core computer, it automagically runs in parallel on multi-core systems reducing run times considerably.
The amount of memory can be an important factor, especially if you intend to work on large images. A minimum of 512 MB of RAM is recommended, but the more RAM the better. Although ImageMagick runs well on a single core computer, it automagically runs in parallel on multi-core systems reducing run times considerably.
In linux based systems the filetype info through extension is stored on location /usr/share/misc/magic as a structure whereas same information can be found on windows registry at HKEYCLASSESROOT subtree.
Given below is the part of linux filetype structure:
Much reliable way to find any file details can be using Header signature of a file.
Typically file header contains metadata about the file to help a software application validate the file content is correct or not, load the data and view or process the data. Header signature or also called magic number typically are at the start of the file and allows a program to initially determine if the file is valid by first checking presence of number.
Often quoted example is JPEG byte sequence 0xFF 0xD8 0xFF 0xE0, appear as the characters ÿØÿà when JPEG file viewed in a hex/ASCII editor.
Using these magic number has advantage over using file extension as these number produce accurate result of file type. Manipulating these number will result the file to be not identified by application that will process it.

I haven't had access to photoshop in a few years, and I don't especially miss it because of Pixlr. I'm not exactly an advanced user of graphic design products, so I can't speak to that level... But for basic image editing and creation, this gets the job done.
Pixlr is used by our organisation as a cheaper and more accessible version of photoshop. We use it to create graphics for our campaigns, as well as posters, report covers and other visual content for our work.
I use the software as my go-to for quick photo edits and social media post creation. I've used this for so many uses for simple graphic editing that I can't imagine not having it for image resizing, editing, and social media content creation.
Pixlr is so far my best online photo editing applications. I can easily access it through my browser without having to download and install any application on my computer. It pretty much helps me do everything I would do with a more complex and advanced application like Photoshop.
This Pixlr application is one of the best photo editing software I have used so far. There are lots of unique features available and the best part of this application is it's clean and user friendly UI.

The AI models already have enough training fodder to faithfully recreate photos of one tucked-away mountain spot nearby that only local nightsky photographers seem to know about. Three years ago, when I shot photos there, I had to snag a competitive campsite and drive for miles up a potholed forest service road only to wait in the dark for hours. I cooked an expired packet of ramen noodles with a small camp stove to stay warm, tucked the feathers back into my jacket and jumped at everything that made a noise in the dark.
