Forgive me experts as I am a rookie at Rets and Variman.  I am using putty and Xming to connect to the server that is in a data-center and I am noticing a lot of lag in the Admin GUI when I am trying to setup the Metadata.  I like the idea of the GUI due to the error validation, but would like some advice.  I read that you can manually create the .xml files and would appreciate some feedback on the most efficient way to enter the Metadata.

Thanks for any help anyone can provide.

Thanks,
Tim

The GUI is just a java app. Run it locally and then take the resultant
metadata.xml file and upload it to your provider.

Mark,

Thank for you the reply. duh...as it appears my logic was failing me.

Are there any forums around that deal with RETS?  I saw RESO has closed theirs, but wondered if there was any place to ask questions here or there when they arise.  Questions that would be obvious to a veteran like "Is the KeyField associated table column not searchable in a query? I have assigned the list number as KeyField and can't search for it in a query (while search other table columns work fine).  Any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Tim

This and the libRETS lists are probably all that remain .. though to
be frank, I've not really looked elsewhere recently. As for the
KeyField, it should be searchable ... after all, it is the key! In
fact, there's a mode where if you search only on the required key
fields, "limits" handling should be suspended.

Thanks again.  I had it searchable, but it was varchar in the database and int in the metadata and the two did not like to tango.
