Hi all,

I'm doing a Y12 orientation for U3/4 next week prior to the proposed meeting date and hence am planning now. I am wondering whether anyone has any advice as to whether certain U3 texts are specific to AOS1 and AOS2 or whether all texts are used for both AOSs as per the old Unit 4.
I am trying to infer based off the readings I do know and the descriptions in the Study Design but a lot of them seem to be relevant to both AOSs.

Does anyone have insights on this? It isn't clear in the Study Design or text list, though I might be missing something.

Thanks all.

Best regards,

Chris

Texts prescribed for Unit 3 are for both AoS - but only insofar as they're relevant for the specific key knowledge questions we're discussing.

Picking a key question to start with instead of a text might make life easier!

Gorgias extracts in the new list answer a good deal of questions in the first area of study. And are accessible for students. So could be a nice simple choice while you're making a planner.

I'm going with the happiness question and some Aristotle on the chief good. With some Nietzsche and Beauvoir as contrasting perspectives.

I believe you will constantly hear: don't teach through texts, teach through the questions.
Which will lead you to using texts multiple times to address different questions.

I've attached a questions/texts correlation that was courtesy of Adam. This may help guide planning.
It also has heaps of texts associated with each question, and most texts can be used to address a wide variety of questions - so it also might not be helpful at all haha.
*It is just an example, not an authoritative directive of how you should teach the course.

Hi all,

I believe the original query was about the meeting/s being held next week, and I too am awaiting specific details on this.

Cheers,

Thanks James and Ben.

This makes sense and fortunately I'd gone for the first question in AOS1 and Gorgias for the couple of lessons I have to get started in orientation.

Cheers,

Chris
