Hey all,

Sorry it took two days to get this out there. I wanted to say hey to new folks on this list and folks who couldn't make it on tonights call and thanks to everyone who could make.  I have the notes below and have highlighted the big take aways.  Our next call will be Sunday night at 9PM and Nina will be getting call info out this week.  I cant emphasize how incredible it is that we have gotten this far, despite the fact that we have a ways to go till October 10th.  We are gonna reach thousands of people and hop on registering people we talk to who get that glow in their eye when they hear about VA PowerShift.  This thing will be unstoppable when people get the impression that THIS is the thing to be a part of this fall.    Think about asking everyone you know who signs up to help recruit more people, or come out to a VA PS meeting. If we do that, then we make our live SOOO much easier, and people become more invested going into the conference, because they are an active part of making it a reality.

Included and attached are the:

  • PowerVote Pledge w/ a VA PowerShift Check Box
  • Quarter Sign up Sheets – Great for getting folks money right away and their solid commitment
  • Sample Plan to make sure ur hitting your goals.
    • You probably need to reach 8 times the number of people you want to recruit to VA powerShift (50 registered means 400 people talked to tabling or class raps)

·        82 people registered Now.  NEED 200 people a week to get to 1000!  What does this mean for your school week by week?

Recruitment Best Practices

·        Want people to feel a part of a group, so get people signed up when in a group!

·        Talk to folks in your class, and get them signed up and follow up with them

·        Sometimes it takes one conversation, sometimes you have to call and ask them to come to VAPS

·        George Mason – Nina – Ask people when tabling if they want clean energy?  Don't just look for people who you think might be interested.

·        Say You are going to be representing your school on campus at VA PowerShift, so Invite your Friends.

·        Ask other student organizations if you can speak at their meeting.

Next Steps

·        Give out PowerShift Cards.  Download here www.vapowershift.org/resources.  Have people sign, give money then, or bring back to you!

·        September 13th – 14th Weekend in Wise County to stop dirty coal. www.weekendinwise.com

·        Make Sure you are letting people know you are looking to have school reimburse partly or fully the costs! And go ask departments for money

Cheers,

--
