THE MEDIA MESSAGE

Hey guys,

 

Here is what I am going to be doing to work the media at your schools and everything you can do to help. Please read this carefully.

 

I am going to try to place stories in all of your schools' newspapers. I would like you to send the press release. The press release is attached and here is all you have to do with it... open it up and edit the part in red, so that it fits you (change it back to black), carefully write a strong subject line, so that our press release won't get passed over and then send it to your paper.  You will see my contact information there as well, but it would just be great if whoever writes the story can contact you on the recruitment efforts you are making and why your fellow students should go, etc.  If you are uncomfortable talking with a school reporter then delete the part in red, but please make sure the text lines back up correctly. After you send off the press release, send me the name of the school paper, the email where you sent it, and if there was a specific person you contacted then include their name as well.  As soon as I receive this information I will be doing follow up calls. I hate to be pushy, but I need you to send out your press releases ASAP... like tomorrow (Wednesday).  You really have until Thursday morning anyway because press releases DO NOT go out on Fridays.  Just find an email address at your school's paper and do it for me, so that I can do my best to plant an exciting story for you!!!

 

The other thing is community media. Since you already have a huge job to do recruiting, I will handle this. I plan to pursue community paper's where I feel it would be helpful for us to have a story in there. If you still want to help me out or have particular insight into your community's paper, I will let you volunteer for that effort.
