Hey everyone,

So Richard and I met today with Amelia Shaw at TransLink to talk about
TransitCamp. She's quite enthused about it - we had a good discussion
about what we'd like to see in terms of the form of the
self-organization, the sessions for design and prototyping, the
diversity of the crowd we're inviting, the rules and expectations
(such as Creative Commons).

One question we spent a bit of time that she had asked on is, who we,
as TransitCamp organizers, want from TransLink at TransitCamp. I
responded that we wanted (aside from cool transit geeks who can tell
us about operations details) people in TransLink who were passionate
with engaging with the public, collaborating with us in a design,
constructive capacity, and who wanted to initiate change within
TransLink in how they dealt with the public - and not just from
TransLink but from all the subsidiaries as well.

She does have quite a bit of concern about the date - mostly because
TransLink is gearing up for a Board meeting on the 12th (and she also
had another motive, which is that she personally wants to come and the
8th is a bad day!), and mostly she wants to make sure the people who
would get the most from the event, will be there.

She's still going to shop the current date around to people. I think
we're pretty firm on the date, but let me know your thoughts, in terms
of whether a change in date would play well for us as organizers in
promoting the event, or whether this would undo too much of the
momentum we've been building or be otherwise detrimental.

As a funny anecdote, there was a passle of interns at reception when
we arrived, no doubt for some harrowing group interview or something.
I'm so glad I'm not in co-op anymore... :)
