So a bit of a rundown of what I've been doing...
- The wiki is now public, so you all can view / author the thing.
Again, it's at http://vancouvertransitcamp.stikipad.com. So far, I've
put up a list of groups I'd like to contact about sponsorship...and
that's it.
- Reading all the "How to organize a BarCamp"-type posts, and starting
to do what they recommend. There's one page here:
http://www.barcamp.org/BarCampHostingPoints
I've mostly been reading Crystal Williams' post here (she helped do
BarCamp Vancouver in 2006, I think?):
http://www.cleverclevergirl.com/?p=10
- Sent an e-mail to Gordon Price at the City Program regarding the
event. Hope he gets in touch.
- Got in touch with Workspace. The space is available for the 8th and
they are able to do it. Were there other venues that we wanted to
consider? I do have a breakdown of costs for SFU Harbour Centre; that
said, they're booked up to the wazoo, but we can get in touch with
them to see if they happen to have that one long room available on the
Saturday by some slim chance.
What I would like to see happen in the next few days. Please give a
shout if you think you can help with one of these :)
- contacting more potential organizational participants. Maybe even
one willing to help fund or contribute a venue! :)
- logo. Refining the idea rather than mocking up at this point. Will
try to have something to show on Thursday. ;)
- getting in touch with the daily Vancouver blogs to start letting the
bloggers know about it. Beyond Robson (some of us met Sean Orr the
other night at the Blogger Meetup), Metroblogging (Rebecca Bollwitt),
maybe the Vancouverite. The writers at these blogs who do
transit-related articles especially.
- setting up an email address where we can take e-mails for people
interested and be centrally contacted. I figure
vancouvert...@gmail.com is good enough.
- swag shopping! We can talk about this on Thursday.
That's the braindump for now...school is tugging me by the ear to go
do something!
Cheers,
