Hello everybody!

I whipped up some stuff on the wiki! http://vancouvertransitcamp.stikipad.com

- I posted about TransitCamp to Happy Frog. Yay! http://www.happyfrog.ca/events/2007/12/08/vancouver-transit-camp I do rather like the re-edited version of the text I put up in there, if I do say so myself. ;)
- I wrote a couple of pages on the wiki - about participation, how to register, and started an attendees list. I'm starting to have a little angst about the list, but I think it will resolve itself.
- I created a "swag and promotions". You might find it handy for one thing or another. I put a list of things that we'll need, like blog badges. I also put the TransitCamp logo as an AI file there. Colours are forthcoming.
- Thanks to Dave and Roland for starting the Sponsors page - I've sent that off as a link to ZipCarfolk, as well as a woman who made a video about transit accessibility for the differently-abled in the last '80s.

I was having a little angst about people maybe joining the facebook event instead of signing up on the wiki. I think we'd still prefer that people look at the wiki, for some of the info on the rules and such, but I think it'll turn out OK.

yaaaay for stuff happening and people hearing about TransitCamp! I spoke to some folks yesterday who seemed interested. And I just discovered (yes, I'm slow) the Vancouver Public Transit group on Facebook. They look like a passle of good fun. Facebook still scares the bejeezus out of me.

Karen,

Thanks so much for taking all this initiative and making this happen.
I wonder if it would help to create a Values page, that would help set
the tone for the event, and perhaps help in decision making (eg: would
inviting party X to the event work towards or against our Values?).

I have some sense of the values from discussions with you at some
previous events - things like: solutions over complaining, respecting
all parties and voices, ...

Anyways, keep up the good work. I volunteer to work the badge desk or
whatever is needed to help run the event. I'm no longer a regular
transit user (telecommuting++) but I still want to see a successful
camp.

Cheers,
Luke

Hi Luke!

The wiki is (as of yesterday, thanks Roland for being vigilant in bugging me ;) open to any and all to edit.

I like the idea of having that conversation about values, because I've continued to fret over those questions of who to invite, what the conversation with TransLink needs to be like, and how decisions get made.

Would you be willing to give a first go at starting that page? I think hearing from someone who doesn't get half their ideas from Toronto would be worthwhile. :) I'll send you (and everyone else who's signed up for TransitCamp, in fact) invitations to that wiki, though you don't need an account to contribute.

Also, as miscellanea - TransLink's onBoard program (the ones who do the employer transit passes) actually are supposed to promote telecommuting. I'm not sure how well they're doing with that, so they might welcome your input. ;)

I'm trying to think, any ideas for how to incorporate juggling into TransitCamp? Such a talent should not be unrepresented at our dear event :D

I was about to jump in on this, but I think the new text with 'Barcamp
Rules' is what I was going for.

Cool. Don't use transit! Work from home! :)

Perhaps as part of a proposal to support local street performers at
certain locations within the transit system... Or also just
gratuitous juggling. :)

Cheers,
Luke
