All,
I'm please to announce a winter agriculture meeting for 2/19 and 2/20 at the Allegan Tech Center.

The 19th is targeted at larger operators, the 20th (Saturday) is more oriented to small growers and gardeners.  I'll be teaching a two hour introductory soils class on 2/20, with a one hour soil health talk to follow.    Many other good topics as well.  This is the first of what we hope will be an annual event.

Hello everyone,
There's an event coming up in a few weeks that some of you might be interested in—it's being presented at Lily Hill Farm south of Lawton, the same venue that hosted the presentation by Jenny Pell (of the Seattle Food Forest project among other things) when she visited the area in 2014. This will be a day-long primer in homesteading skills, permaculture, raising small livestock, self-sufficiency, and creating food forests, presented by long-time Van-Kal Permaculture contributors Mike Hoag, Rita and Norm Bober, myself, and Author Penny Kelly, who will give a short talk on emerging energy technologies "beyond solar."

The program goes from 9:30 to 5pm and lunch will be provided. Cost is $25 if registered by this Friday 1/29, or $30 after that.

More details and schedule here : http://www.vankalpermaculture.org/event/skills216/

You can register and pay here: https://squareup.com/market/lillie-house-permaculture/skills-for-self-reliance
or contact Carol Iverson (269-491-8171) to send a check or pay cash.

Hope to see some of you there, especially folks who are just starting to wade into these topics and want to know more. If this goes well, Lily Hill Farm will likely have more similar programs in the future in an ongoing series. They have a lovely facility: B&B type lodging for 20+ people, 57 acres of rolling landscape, a great garden, chickens, a greenhouse, an orchard, a commercial kitchen, and want to do more with Permaculture at the site.

Hope everyone is well and dreaming of the approaching garden season,
PJ
