Okay-- I spoke with CELA and confirmed for next Tuesday but note the change of time (she gave me mis-information earlier): 3-4:30pm

We're squeezing in between some 1st year and some intern exams, but I got us two rooms, so hopefully we can be efficient.

Let me know if that's a problem, otherwise see you all there with props and cameras, etc. as discussed!

Okay; how about Tuesday 3/11 2-4pm? Again, we may not need that whole time, but I doubt we'll need more?

I talked to the lady at CELA today, and she said that they can't let us film after hours. They're also really busy the next few weeks but she gave me two options during the days we discussed. I told her I'd call her back today to reserve a time.

Tues 3/11 12-4pm

Wed 3/12 12-4pm

How much time do you think we'll need (I told her an hour or two-- if that?) and are people available during these times?

Quick update for those who couldn't make the meeting tonight- we decided to pursue the slapstick clinic skit, which should be funny and easy to shoot/edit. We brainstormed enough scenes so that everyone can participate (but feel free to add more!)  so just look for an email from Catherine about scheduling CELA time to film.

alright y'all...turns out my personal statement was incredibly boring (glad they let me in anyway...), but I tried my hardest to pick out the most embarrassing, cheesy lines of inspired writing that I could.

I think we can collectively do way better than this, so everyone look theirs up! I've now put myself out there so no one else can be more embarrassed than me.

ready, go.

So that we can keep the meeting short: before Monday night, try to add segments from your application essays to the spreadsheet or else send entire copies to me or the group to comb through. One or two sentences will probably be best but we may be able to keep the audience's attention for a particularly good paragraph.

Yes, still in. The 15th/16th seems too close to me, maybe we could try for a couple of weeknights but keep Sunday the 16th free.

This is an appropriately cheesy/overly-hopeful vibe for our "expectations" shots (obviously without the singing): Yes We Can Obama Song by will.i.am

We could include a shot of Matt playing the trombone, set it to the instrumental version of Green Day-Good Riddance or We Are Young, and then repeat (sing-song?) bench-to-bedside 20x.

Also, I was thinking more Charlie Chaplin for the slapstick clinic scenes:

Sounds good. Should we try to get two cameras so we can be filming in both rooms?

Also can we have someone open a patient room door and get pie'd in the face? (probably can't happen in CELA)

Just checking in for tomorrow-

Has anyone emailed Terry yet? I will but I just wanted to double check that no one else has already. We can shoot for stopping by his office if he has time sometime tomorrow or just before or after MSTP seminar on Wednesday.

We had a couple of scenes that called for an attending character- any thoughts on someone who looks older and would be available for a few minutes while we have CELA tomorrow to film the stuck in the back of the crowd and the initial patient assignment scenes?

If we will be playing the patients as well it might be a good idea to bring shorts and a t-shirt in addition to professional clothes so that they aren't visible under the gown.

Thanks for all of this, Laura!

I haven't email Terry--your plan sounds good to me. Also I agree re all of the items you suggested.

So, everyone needs to bring/wear:
Patient-seeing clothes
Shorts/tshirt for playing the patient
Any props we discussed (I'll bring my dad's old doctor bag)
White coat obviously

Just confirming--who's actually bringing the camera? If we do only have one, maybe it'll still make it faster to have the two rooms and we can alternate between setting up/brainstorming and actually filming.

Just a reminder that those times are specific because CELA is packed tomorrow--I think we can do this pretty quickly, though!

I am meeting with harsh to pick up the camera at noon. So we should be good there! I haven't emailed Terry, but I agree that maybe just asking him for five minutes would be fine at seminar.

See ya'll tomorrow!

Terry is free at 10am tomorrow morning- so we will just send a couple of people who are free over with a camera.

Lets try to get to CELA 10-15min early so we are ready to go as soon as the rooms open up (or in case we are allowed in early).

I think my iphone was tucked into someone else's bag or white coat- could you all check for me when you get home? I already went to CELA but no sign of it and it didn't make it back to my lab last night.

Thanks,
Laura

Just a few ideas for the editors, no need to read this unless you are interested.

Background song- my thinking is that we need something goofy, quick and ragtime style. This fits all of those and also, because it is a cover, makes it more tongue-in-cheek.

Clips from other silent films it would be fun to reference if you need more stuff:
Melies- A Trip to the Moon (a good clip is at 6:12 when the space ship crashes into the moons eye- behind a door while looking for the patient room or otoscope scene?)
These are horror films so not sure they fit the tone but maybe behind one of the doors:

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
