Hey Comrades,

I wanted to ask the group how things look in terms of the availability
of placard materials for the TransPride March. When we did a march
in Ottawa a few years ago, I donated a pile of sturdy, pre-assembled
placards in bright coloured card stock (with wooden handles) and made
a bunch of magic markers available so that people could write their
own messages etc. on the placards they wished to carry in the march.
It seemed successful and made for a nice and colourful march presence.

I would be happy to buy the materials and assemble the placards and
make markers available again for people to prep their signs before the
march, all by way of donation to the cause. Of course, some people
will prepare their own signs or banners, but for many, having the raw
makings available may be helpful or convenient.

Do folks think this would be helpful for the upcoming march? Or would
I be transgressing or something like that in some fashion?

If y'all could please discuss and/or let me know whether I should go
ahead with doing that, that'd be awesome. And if so, I'll get right
on it. A ballpark estimate of how many to obtain would be helpful
too. I'd be thinking in the 100-150 range, but that might be way off.
I dunno.

?

This event is so exciting. Thank you all for the amazing work you are doing!

In sol,
Shannon

hey all,
we had talked about having a space available during the forum with banner and placard making supplies available and I have been looking into different options. A few people have offered some supplies and I'm working on more. I am going to bring paint and paint brushes as well so people can paint placards and am trying to get some fabric donated to paint banners. So I'm thinking with our powers combined we can have a great area at the forum with supplies getting ready for the parade.

That sounds fantastic Hunter! I'm taking it from this that donating a
number of blank placards and markers to the forum stockpile would be
okay, though I'd probably look at a smaller number than I mentioned,
maybe 50 or 75 or so.

don't know if this fits here
- i am bringing many rolls of nylon (stretchy material) that's cut
into rolls of ribbon.

colors are deep purple - day-glow pink - neon yellow.

it can also be used to decorate the dance - or as arm bands for march.
0r to rope off areas.
or whatever fun you can think of.
