I'll tell you all about what's new and awesome in Scala 2.8.

What nights are good for the rest of you?

Cool idea. Tuesdays and Wednesdays work best for me.

Cheers,

Cool, maybe too can tell us about Erlang too! :)

I think a Tuesday would be best then... March 30th, April 6th, 13th or 20th?

Chris Shorrock, if you're still around, and if you're permitted to, I would love it if you could talk to us about what you're doing with Scala at EA.

Now that I've used Scala "in anger" too I have some perspective that I can share.

Any evening except March 30th works for me (though I won't have anything to
contribute, I'm afraid).

Certainly ;) It's all fun().

Out of these I'm available the 6th and 13th (plug: I'm giving an
Erlang + SNMP talk on the 20th - http://www.meetup.com/erlang-vancouver/calendar/12960828/

I am still out of the country.

Sounds great though. 5th April onwards is good with me.

I should be there.   The closer to Gastown the better.

Sounds good.  How about Waves Coffee on Hastings & Richards - it is close to transit and has free WiFi and reasonable coffee.  Is 6:00 too early for people?

I'm +1 on suggested location and time.

Do they have enough space? We have seven now, and I know of at least
a couple more who are likely to attend.

I'm trying to get a conference room at the QLT building where my new
job is, we'll see...

I am (selfishly) +2 on this location (I work there too ;-).

Joke aside, this is where the last 3 Erlang meetups were held and
we've found the venue to be very good for this kind of event.

The QLT building. So close to the VCC Skytrain station!  Plus, two of us already work here. :)

Should we meet up out front at, say, 6:15?  My cell is (604) 562-5137 if you're much earlier or later.

I might order pizza--how many of you are vegetarians?

Not old, just a hand.   Written one non-trivial program so far.  Interested in other peoples' experiences, opinions.

And...  vegetarian-friendly...

I'm veg, thanks for asking.

I've written a few Swing apps, one of which will go live over the next few weeks, but there's a lot that I don't know.  Every Daily Scala blog post is new and I understand less than half of the 2.8.0 changes (I get the feeling like we could talk for an hour on the collections alone).  So I'm happy to share what I've learned but I'm happier to hear from some pros.

Foodwise, I'm only scared of anchovies.

For the rest, I've started to learn Scala last year, by solving
Project Euler problems, but stopped when I have hired to err into
Erlang.

See you all tonight,
D.

Do you have room for one more this evening?

I'm a Scala noob, but have a decent amount of experience with both
Java and Erlang.

the more the merrier.
