New Meetup: Vancouver-Scala on meetup.com

After giving a talk at VanJS this past week, I decided to create a new
meetup for vancouver scala users: http://www.meetup.com/vancouver-scala/
. I like how meetup.com has organized their service, and saw an
opportunity there for this community.

I would really encourage all of you to join. I have tentatively
scheduled the next meetup for the last Wednesday of March, the 30th,
at 7pm. Taking the wisdom of Allen Pike, organizer of VanJS, I am
aiming for two speakers at each meetup followed by an informal chat &
beer up (here's the template: http://www.antipode.ca/2010/howto-start-a-technical-meetup/).

So that being said - we need another speaker! I can do one on the 30th
(currently thinking about doing a talk on scalatra & scalatest). In
general, I think we want to focus on 'deep tech' subjects interesting
& challenging to Scala professionals, but since this is the first
meetup (organized through meetup.com anyways) there may be room for an
'intro to scala' talk for first-timers & the curious. Whatever the
topic, please let me know if you'd like to present at this inaugural
meeting!
