In the Lamplighter Mike was at "The Hit's" table, while the man in the
suit stood in the centre of the bar. He was looking at "The Hit" as
the funeral smell permeated the bar. The smell was similar to
funerals, when the smoke from the thurible smelt like death. The
smell of the smoke incense was similar to the smell of the man in the
suit. He was obviously part of Little Mike and Mike's performance.
The short dark haired man looked like he could very well have been on
of Becky's brothers. The overpowering smell of death chocked up the
whole bar. He stood in front of the entrance in the centre of the
bar. "The Hit" realized he was looking at one of the gang from Clavet
who was publicly trying to change the story from the note to the drug
loss. "The Hit" also knew why the gang from Clavet had to hide behind
this hastily prepared performance in the bar. Now, "The Hit"
understood how the 4 hapless junkies from Hastings Street came upon
the currency for the home invasion. The 4 junkies got the information
from Becky and her family from Clavet. That's how 4 junkies got
involved in an international drug deal!

"The Hit" moved out of his apartment on Friday September 1 ST, and he
finished his notice at work on Friday night as well. He caught a few
hours sleep in a deserted car behind his old apartment, before he rode
to Ridgedale on Saturday. The town drunk a family in the area that
had a son going taking his first year of Agriculture at the U of S.
"The Hit" was able to rent a room in the basement of a house just off
8 TH Street E and Clarence Avenue South in Saskatoon with Kerry
Shriner. The third room was rented by a CN worker by the name of
Ken. He left his motorcycle in Ridgedale, and he caught a ride into
Saskatoon with Kerry. There would be little riding time left that
summer anyway, and the town drunks son was not going to have money for
a vehicle. He would take the bus. The 17 year old started taking
Economics as his major, and Political Science as his minor course of
study. It was then that the young hit met his first computer course.
He became more interested in Computer Science than anything else, and
he was good at math. He already knew his grandfather wasn't right
about him being a lawyer when he was a young in St. Brieux?

"The Hit" awoke on October 26 TH late in the afternoon, and he didn't
bother starting work on the Onlineglass-com project. You see Jimmy
The Junkie and his crew were heavy maintenance. They were addicts.
"The Hit" assumed they would be up to their regular business, as well
as their working for the Mysterious Financier. While, "The Hit" did
not know who the Mysterious Financier was, "The Hit" could make a move
to let them both know he had a history with Jimmy The Junkie and his
Crew. In 1994, they screwed up when they lost his car. They would
screw up again. That's what life is like for them. "The Hit" could
let the Mysterious Financier know a little about them. Could he
possibly split them apart to improve his chances? Would the
Mysterious Financier back away from them, if the Mysterious Financier
knew they would screw up? He decided to use the original letter to
the Piccadilly Pub and his knowledge of Jimmy The Junkie and his
Crew. "The Hit" started with a phone call.

"The Hit" arrived in Lloydminster, and he stayed with Lorraine and
Gordon for a few days. Lorraine was working for Ed King Husky Bulk as
a secretary, and she found him a job at Ed King Husky Bulk driving
fuel truck. He moved into Lloydminster where he eventually met up
with Randy, Emery, and Clinton Piatte from St. Brieux. They were
working in Lloydminster during the oil boom, and he shared an
apartment with them. "The Hit" made good money that summer driving
fuel to drilling rigs, farmers, businesses, and a few service
stations. "The Hit" met a few of the local bikers that summer, when
he pulled the front wheel up while passing them on the Yellowhead
Highway going through Lloydminster at a light. They were all heading
for the Wayside Inn, and they had a few beers with "The Hit" that
day. He had turned 18 years of age in Alberta where he could drink
beer legally in the bar for the first time in his life. "The Hit"
made 3 mistakes that summer. First, he lent his motorcycle to Randy
for a ride one day, and Randy put the bike over backwards with lots of
damage. Second, he had a flat on the inside duel tire at the back of
his fuel truck, and he did not see it until the second tire blew. He
almost rolled the truck. Third, he slipped while dropping a 45 gallon
barrel of oil off the back bed of the fuel truck for a drilling rig,
and he fell awkwardly with the barrel. The oil barrel fell with him,
and he landed between the ground and the barrel. He rolled the barrel
aside, but he needed surgery for a Hernia at Lloydminster Hospital 5
days before he was to start his second year of University.

Jack and "The Hit" spoke on the phone, and Jack said he had a small
suite in the house on Victoria becoming available shortly. Jack
wanted to do some work on the suite before he rented it again, and
they agreed to see the suite early in the first week of March. "The
Hit" did not consider another location. "The Hit" tried to focus on
the Onlineglass-com project where David was still supporting the move,
and all the information he had coming back from Russia by email was
very promising. The Russian Economy was tubing on his schedule, and
the Internet was booming on his schedule. "The Hit" made a few trips
to the Money Mart on Hastings Street to send money via Western Union
to Julia. When he went out the computer room guarded by the camera,
the street was unbearable! There was no doubt the Clan from Clavet
was showing his picture all over Vancouver. The number of people he
was attracting attention from was expanding exponentially each day.
"The Hit" decided to read up on the loss of the drugs too see what he
was up against. Since, he did not know anyone involved except for the
Clan from Clavet, Jimmy The Junkie, and his Crew, he read the publicly
available news at the time. In a nutshell, there were 3 local Hell's
Angels charged according to the Vancouver Sun, and the Vancouver
Police Department had followed wiretap evidence for less than 3
weeks. The three arrests were made based on the wiretaps, and there
was no international connection. "The Hit" knew why?

During his second year in University "The Hit" kept to himself and he
studied all the time. He was old enough now to go to the bar on
campus, and he drank occasionally on campus and at home. However, he
just kept to himself. He had become something of a loner during
Harvery's Run. There was the usual stint as the town drunks son in
St. Brieux at Christmas, and he returned for his second term at the
University. There was an incredible series on television about Louis
Riel during the second term. He watched the whole series at a time
when he hardly watched television at all. Metis and squatters were
pushed west by the very proper sounding statute known as the Free
Lands Homestead Act of 1872. That piece of paper would deal with
those pesky fur traders, Buffalo hunters, merchants, and Metis who
tamed the west for the settlers. It pushed them west into
Saskatchewan where the Free Lands Homestead Act solved the dominions
problem. The grid road system chased them until they stood to become
victims. Louis Riel was a victim, and life chased him until the
dominion hung him in Ottawa.
