You Call This Extreme?

The people who support the Liberal Provincial Government encompass a
wide range of opinion. They run from whisky-shooting,
straight-talking, quasi-rednecks such as myself to sophisticated
members of high society with high camp mannerisms. We come from many
backgrounds and we believe many different things. We are, however,
united by the one thing that we all have in common. We believe in
practical solutions to real problems, we believe in doing something
when it is called for and doing nothing when it is not. We want to
make British Columbia work again.

Opponents of the government like to accuse it of being blinded by
ideology, of having a program which is based on politics rather than
pragmatism. However, the actual record of the BC Liberal Government
shows that the approach that the government has shown in solving the
problems of this Province over the past year has been anything but
ideological, in fact, the government has regularly chosen to take a
practical centrist approach rather than opting for the simple path
that would be followed by a government operating based upon a rigid
right-wing ideology.

For example, in launching its program of restraint, the government
protected funding for education and health care. In fact, it
increased funding for health by 1.1 billion dollars. The service
"cutbacks" which have sparked such outrage have seen the closure of
just a handful of hospitals, when Saskatchewan's NDP government, when
forced to bring a spiraling deficit under control, closed over a
hundred. The Liberals have stated their commitment to public
education, and have demonstrated that commitment by beginning a real
and much-needed reform of the system, a process designed to improve
the quality of the public system. The dramatic tax cut that was
brought in shortly after the government took office concentrated on
the bottom income brackets, making income taxes for those who earn
less than $60,000 the lowest in the country. Those with low incomes
have been specifically exempted from any number of fee increases.
These are hardly the actions of a government pursuing a narrow
right-wing agenda.

If anyone in this Province is bound in an ideological straight-jacket,
it's the rent-a-crowds who take to the streets to protest the latest
"outrage." It's the members of the leftover left who write letters to
the editor and scream at their MLA's, and it's those who ran this
Province for the last decade. Not only are they bound by ideology,
but they are blinded by it as well. Every solution that they propose
to a problem involves the intervention of government, unions, or
social activists.

Listen to their rhetoric for a while some time, and you'll realize
that most of these people are members of the
"you-can-actually-have-your-cake-and-eat-it-too" national committee.
These people think that we can just go on forever spending money on
everything that they want to have. They don't believe in setting
priorities, because to these people everything is a crisis so urgent
that there is no time to do anything but throw money at it, hold
lengthy meetings of committees, and hope for the best. If this
doesn't work out generally their way of fixing things is to throw even
more money at the problem.

Well, we know that this doesn't work. Yet most of the left remains
stalwart by this orthodoxy. Take the Canadian Federation of Students,
for example. The CFS thinks that tuition ought to be free. Oddly
enough, they also think that education funding ought to be radically
increased. While these positions are not, exactly mutually exclusive,
they do add up to being an expensive proposition. Where is this money
going to come from, you ask? Well the Canadian Federation of Students
won't be the one to answer that question, because they have no idea.
They might manage to spit out some racial left clichés about making
corporations pay their "fair share" or some such other nonsense, but
the truth is that they have no idea. In fact, having a coherent
policy is beside the point for those on the left. Being a leftist or
a protestor isn't about having ideas that make any sense, it's about
being able to spout nice sounding platitudes.

I like to call the body of ideas that are popular on the modern left
"hippienomics." Hippienomics isn't about making sense, or doing
things that work, it's about doing things that sound nice in theory
and, hey, when they don't work out and bankrupt everyone, at least you
meant well. You know, people can call me whatever names they like,
after all, I probably am an ideologue of the right. But let's get
things straight for once, the BC Liberal government is about putting
this Province back on its feet, it's not about an particular ideology,
other than the ideology of practicality.

You know what, Yoshida? You're a freak. And, a pathetic mouthpiece for
Campbell and the rest of his slime balls. Go back to whatever rock you
crawled out from under. You have no credibility here. Campbell hijacked
the Liberal party in this province because they sure as hell aren't
Liberals in any way, shape or form. Mike Clevin is right; the people of
B.C. didn't vote for Campbell as much as they voted the NDP out. I
voted Liberal (to my shame) but I am vehemently opposed to what
Campbell is doing to this province. I read the story a few weeks ago
about that old man and his wife being separated for this first time
since they got married and wanted to puke. Are actions like that
"making B.C. work again"? I think not. So, you can take Gordon Campbell
and the rest of his cretins and shove them up your ass. Comprende?

"Slightly left of centre", huh? What an idiot. You obviously don't even
have a clue what Liberal traditionally stands for in the Canadian
electoral scene. Campbell and his cronies hijacked the B.C. Liberal
party but they sure as hell aren't Liberals in the sense of the word.
Call them what they are - Fraser Institute wackos.

What do you do for a living, anyway? I suspect you run a pyramid scheme
of some sort or a call centre peddling who knows what. And for that,
you fancy yourself a free enterpriser businessman.

I know what it means to be a Liberal here in canada. It means a party that
actually takes pride in having zero convictions and is willing to compromise
on any situation. Now, I'll admit that Campbell is still a bit of a question
mark, but rest assured...this slightly left of center politico would LOVE to
dole out free money for worthless causes, but the Nazi Democratic Party of
B.C. left the cupboards bare.

Then again, all will be forgiven if Campbell does the right thing and lets
the multi-nationals drill for the billions of dollars worth of off-shore
oil. All he's got to do is get that part of the equation right, and he'll be
doing fine.

No, not really. I help put deals together....grow companies and raise the
financing, etc. So far in the last four years we have brought five companies
out of research and development and brought them public. Of course, we have
made sure all five companies were successfully located in the United States
of America. The tax load in canada is far too onerous to try and do business
here.

It amazes me why this country despises and punishes those who try to be
successful. I guess left wingers are all taught to get in line and wait for
the go no where government job when the leave school. Or because the
government has paid them for years on welfare it's a natural that they
become social workers.

It's all right that you folks have no ambition but why be so bigoted against
those that want more out of life than to count down the years, days and

Gee, I dunno....but yesterday my associate had to have his hernia repaired.
He was able to go to a B.C. medical establishment and have the job done

Let me tell you. Seniors who have had their nursing homes closed by
Campbell and have nowhere to go are getting screwed. Children of
divorced parents who no longer have access to a school councillor are
getting screwed. Our young people, who Gordon Campbell has decreed are
worth no more than $6.00 per hour in this day and age, are getting
screwed. I could go on. I find it fascinating that there are Campbell

Why? The market price is up around the $25.00 mark. There is lots of oil in
off-shore B.C., and billions of dollars to be made at these prices. And
once that oil is gone, and we see prices around $40, developing the shale

Of course the Socialist Liberals in Ottawa are corrupt. Everyone knows that,
even those in government.

> Gordon Campbell is a fuck up, he screwed up Vancouver when he was Mayor
and

Um, where ever did you find this piece of mis-information? Campbell was
responsible for this city of ours to take the first steps in becoming a
world class city by opening it up for development. Of course, the lame and
impotent leftwing losers did not want this to happen, as we all know these
idiots would like nothing better than we all wallow in mud. No,
heavens...Campbell got this city moving in the right direction. Common
knowledge...do your research.

> He party is nothing but a fasict resime.

Wrong again. The provincial Liberal's are nothing more than a middle of the
road party. Only to the lame and worthless leftwing losers do these guys
appear to be a fascist regime.

> you seem to forget the natives are not going to let him do as he pleases
> there boy.

We will see. I think you will be in for a huge surprise when the plans for
off-shore development are finally revealed. I'm sure that the lame and
worthless left will be aghast at the alliances that are even now being
forged behind the scenes.

> Bullshit, your a fucking idiot. your most likey some high school dipshit
> with nothing to say but horseshit.

Not really, and note...I do not ask, nor care where you collect your welfare
check. My focus is in doing what I do. Right now, we are working on bringing
to market two medical devices that will bring relief to millions of people
world wide, as well as a smaller deal that should supply many jobs to the
work force of Oregon.

>
>
> LOL, boy wonder.....yup make sure everything goes to the states.

Of course, you idiot. If you attract capital to enter into a venture agreem
ent with an inventor who has poured his life's work into a project - not to
mention most of the assets of his family and friends, do you really think I
would encourage him to locate in canada, with it's onerous tax burden? That
would not be responsible on my part. As well, I couldn't attract a dime in
outside funding if the venture capitalists knew we were trying to locate in
what is jokingly referred to as "Socialist canada". And what about the
markets? Why would I encourage someone to go public on the CDNX, or TSE when
there is a larger and more well-heeled audience south of the border. Think
things out, man...don't just parrot nonsense!

>
> And you think Campbell is wonderful....what a moron.

Oh, okay. So I seem to have lost you when we talk finance....so you
(automatically) resort to name-calling and parroting leftwing slogans. Gee,
what a surprise. Good thing some of us are still in this country, trying to
make the wheels turn...else your welfare check might simply stop.

The canadian dollar is going up and its going to continue to go up as the
Canadian economic recovery outpaces the American economic recovery. The reason
the canadian recovery is outpacing the american recovery is because the
canadian boom wasn't nearly as bloated, so the canadian economy didn't have so
far to fall. You see, pumping up economies on pipe dreams and gambling debts
isn't a good plan, but as far as USA is concerned, its the only strategy
they've got left. The american economy is perpetually crippled by massive debt
incurred during the Cold War. The Cold War was like a card game with USSR, the
gambler with the bigger bankroll eventually wins by bankrupting his opponent -
unfortunately america mortgaged itself and the rest of the free world into
eternity to get that bankroll.

I don't know what you think has been going on in the world, Thmup, but
governments are bankrupt. Your tax load will continue to rise inspite of
Gordon Campbell and Jean Cretein's shell games. Theres no easy way out of
this, and no magic pill will be conjured up by working yourself into a froth
over leftists.

because you respond to posts here. Do you watch the news on television?
Did you not see that old man and his wife being seperated for the first

closed? There's any number of stories on how people are being impacted
by Campbell's moves, but it's clear you see only what you want to see.
People are just abstract "things" to you.

As for schools not being responsible for the emotional consequences of
divorce, they are in regards to how the divorce impacts the child's
relationships with other children.

And, yes; I am all in favour of lowering the salary of our politicians.
They've all (NDP included) done such a shitty job in governing this
province over the last ten years that they should be paid accordingly.
The premise that we must pay top salaries to attract top people is
bullshit because we're sure not getting top performance.

As for Vander Zalm, he was popular until the electorate saw through his
charade.

Your economic analysis of the American economy is a pathetic joke and
doesn't even deserve specific criticism. As to the loony, once again
you're showing economic ignorance. The loony is presently chasing the
price of gold and has nothing to do with Canada's overall economy. The
reason for this is that Canada is one of the world's largest suppliers
of gold and as long as it continues to go up, so will the loony. When
gold begins to drop (and it will) so will the loony.

How many? Come one, people keep asking for actual information and all
you have is hand waving and one, one, case. And that case isn't finally
resolved. Shall we stop a major revamp of the entire provincial health
care system because one couple is unhappy with the way it has affected
them?

Pointless insult. You know nothing about me or what I believe. You are
implying that a perfect solution must be found. Of course such do not
exist in the real world so nothing would ever change. Having nothing to
bolster your beliefs you simply insult everyone who does not agree with
you. I shudder to think of the kind of violent repressed world you would
construct if given the authority.

BTW since you are so devastated by this couple's problem, to the point
of condeming an huge restructuring effort, and obviously deeply affected
by their plight... have you invited them to come stay with you? Or
perhaps offered them money to move to a private facility? I thought not.

Pointless insult. I have to wonder why you make so many many assumptions
based on no evidence. The only thing I can think of is that you are very
threatened by anyone with opinions different than yourself and so are
compelled to insult and deride them even though you really don't know
anything about them or their beliefs. You are an authoritarian who would
be a nightmare given power. Thank god you don't have it, just as you
appear to have no actual information to butress your beliefs and must
turn to insults as a poor substitute for argument.

Actually there are so many cases its impossible to keep track. I read about
them in letters to the editor in the dailies and weeklies, I see them featured
on the television news and if you go to that recall petition site you can read
dozens and dozens of sob stories. Personally, I find it to be a downer so I
don't try to catalog every tragic result of Campbell's dastardly crusade in my
mind. On the other hand, I'm not such a jackass that I refuse to believe its
happening and have the audacity to suggest that theres no 'proof'.

>And that case isn't finally

In other words if there is enough bad publicity generated by that one case,
they might do damage control.

>Shall we stop a major revamp of the entire provincial health

No they should stop it because it wont save a dime and its nothing more than
harassment of a significant portion of the population.

He pays tax so that they will be taken care of under the medical system
wiseass. Once again you reveal your true asshole colors by using the age-old
bullshit arguement that suggests that anyone who criticizes 'survival of
the fittest' mentality should go live in the woods, eat bark sandwiches, and
open their own hospital out of twigs and mud to look after the poor and
destitute. In fact, YOU are the one who should be required to put your money
where your mouth is since YOU have decided that our tax dollars should not go
towards providing care for the sick.

Yes he did have an answer, he referenced a particular couple, then you said
that wasn't good enough. You said you wanted more references. Your games are
retarded. Anyone who can switch on a tv set or read a newspaper knows that
Campbell is screwing over a lot of people. Hell anyone with a pulse has a
friend or friend of a friend who is suffering under the Liberal's cutbacks. In
fact, the television news tries to downplay the situation as often as possible,
especially Global. Last saturday on the news I saw them interview a guy hanging
around near the big anti-Campbell rally, according to the reporter's voice
over, inspite of the large turnout "people would still vote for Campbell".
Then they stuck the microphone in the guys face and he said "I don't like what
he's doing but yeah I would vote for him again."... The thing is I know that
guy and he's one of the biggest dick-wagging alpha-male jerkoffs around, and
even he was slightly humbled when confronted with the camera at that big crowd.
BCTV must've had to hunt far and wide to find someone to give them that
soundbyte. They put his name on the screen and everything, but spelled it
wrong. HAH, I guess thats his 15 seconds.

In any case there is no point in arguing with morons about wether Campbell is
destroying the province and engaging in social-darwinian purging of the welfare
state. (oh and for you mouth breathers out there, I've seen a few people refer
to 'welfare state' as meaning some kind of club med where nobody has to work
and everyone lives in luxury on welfare. Perhaps thats some fantasy you
dreamed up while caddying at the country club as a summer job when you were an
overly-privileged squirt, but 'welfare state' refers to socialized medical
care, pensions, unemployment insurance and every other social gain acheived
since the harsh wake-up call of the Great Depression.)

Half the time guys like tnr and Yoshida are saying how proud they are that
Campbell is getting tough with the 'mewlers' or whatever, and the other half of
the time they are denying that Campbell is getting tough. Its a classic
passive/aggressive routine.

Ok, how about Chris Forbes? He's the guy who was kicked out of a hospital, now

Actually, my mother is quite proud of me. And so are my kids. They know that
I love them, support them in their endeavors, etc. I have learned from my
mother to take care of myself, stand tall and remember that 'profit' is not
an ugly word. My kids are in excellent health, one of them is on the Dean's

business. I was taught to disdain socialism, never let a worthless Welfarian

Not a bad point. But the facts are that the NDP put B.C. in a really deep
hole. That's not really a surprise though, is it? Now we need money to get
out of that hole...and the offshore projects have become vitally important
to the current government.

A froth over leftists? Nah, I never give these worthless losers a second
thought. Why waste my time when there is money to be made. As to the tax
loads...not really a worry as most of the folks I know have their money
safely tucked away in off-shore accounts. Now if the goverments would get
responsible and slash taxes, especially to the Producers...I'm sure that
they would bring their money back to canada. We're talking billions of
dollars.

But no, of course not....the governments will struggle until the very end to
maintain Welfare and Medicare as sacred cows. But as history clearly
shows...both will collapse.

No. But I'll bet you have a magnetic wristband in your bottom drawer. My
devices will alleviate the suffering of diabetes...our product is at Women's
Hospital right now undergoing evaluation and clinical trials. Our second
product will most certainly benefit women and has thus far been able to
attract over $24M in funding.

How do you figure? The most propserous country in the world has the biggest
debt. Seems to me the more debt we incur the better off we are! In fact, the

If a producer can pay 50 cent an hour wages with no envrionmental
restrictions and no tax elsewhere, why would they move production operations to
Canada? How can we be 'open for business' unless we convert to a third world
country? USA doesn't even try to compete on that level, they just rack up more
debt and shovel on the subsidies for their failing industries.

Thats great, of course if everyone developed a medical breakthrough we wouldn't
have an economy to support these breakthroughs would we...Everyone can't be
exactly like you, Thmup. In fact, a lot of people had to work for peanuts just
to get that $24million to you, people working wages with little job security
who often end up on unemployment insurance or welfare for periods of time. You
don't seem all that grateful for the oppotunity afforded to you. I'm sure you
created your own opportunities, but your hostility towards those who provide
the framework from which you can realize your opportunity is quite obnoxious.
But hey, being obnoxious is not a crime! One of the great things about the
free world is that you can be an obnoxious ungrateful prick and not get beaten
with a rubber hose for it.

What kind of a loser are you that you continually post using someone
else's name? What "free ride" are you referring to? I'm positive that
Albino holds a job but I have deep doubts that you do.

You obviously have experience with lithium. Is it helping at all? How
long have you been taking it? What's the prognosis?

Vancouver was a "backwater village" before Campbell became mayor? Wow,
you need some serious help, you poor man.

As for your magnetic wristband assumption, I wear a gold one and have
done so since it was given to me in my late teens. Sorry to disappoint.

Finally, I'm not impressed with your claim your second product has
attracted $24 million in capital. Why? I think you're full of hot air,
anyway, but there's been any number of the "next greatest invention"
that went nowhere. It's probably some pie-in-the-sky scheme used to
attract investors then will vanish in a puff of ruined families and
dashed hopes.

So, you don't pay your fair share of taxes? Who are you calling a
worthless loser? I suggest you look in the mirror because everyone else
is carrying you. How about a flat tax? Does that appeal to you?

By the way, the only thing history shows is history repeats.
