The Vancouver Police Department’s Gang Crime Unit arrested a 29-year-old man on Friday after an altercation in the Telus Gardens condo tower in downtown Vancouver.
In a prepared statement, VPD spokesperson Const. Tania Visintin said the gang unit backed up patrol officers that were called to 777 Richards Street on Friday afternoon after a report a person was being threatened.
Visintin said Seyed Moshfeghi Zadeh was arrested at the scene and has been charged with one count of uttering threats.
Zadeh, who remains in custody, was in the news in April related to a civil forfeiture case.

Province seeks forfeiture of $82,000 in cash, gold bars allegedly linked to kidnappings, assault
The B.C. Civil Forfeiture Office alleges cash and gold bars that the RCMP seized during a raid on Zadeh’s home last year were proceeds of crime.
The Telus Gardens luxury condo tower was also the scene of several parties in January this year and August last year that flouted COVID-19 restrictions and have led to another civil forfeiture case in which the government is trying to seize the condo where the parties were held.

The province wants forfeited more than $83,000 in cash and gold bars discovered after a police investigation into an alleged kidnapping and assault.
In a civil suit filed in B.C. Supreme Court on March 31, the B.C. Civil Forfeiture Office alleges the cash and gold bars are “proceeds and instruments of unlawful activity.”
The cash includes $82,690 in Canadian currency and $300 in U.S. currency. There are three gold bars with no size indicated.
Named in the civil suit are Seyed Ramin Moshfeghi Zadeh and Arash Kardan, whose last known address was in downtown Vancouver.
“The defendants obtained the money and the gold bars by participating in the unlawful activity,” says the forfeiture suit.
Among the allegations listed in the forfeiture suit are possession for the purpose of trafficking and trafficking drugs; uttering threats; assault; use of a firearm in the commission of an offence; careless use of a firearm; unauthorized possession of a firearm; offences related to a peace officer; possession of body armour; and failure to declare taxable income.
Neither Zadeh nor Kardan have responded to the civil suit and have not been charged criminally in relation to the activities described in the suit, according to a search of online B.C. court records.
The threshold for proving a civil forfeiture claim is lower than for a criminal conviction, a balance of probabilities instead of beyond a reasonable doubt.
According to the forfeiture suit, on Oct. 24, the RCMP received a report that an individual was the victim of threats and assault from Zadeh and Kardan.
The RCMP began an investigation and discovered that on Sept. 30, Zadeh and Kardan went to the victim’s residence, kidnapped them and took them to an unknown “stash” house where Zadeh and Kardan accused them of stealing $5,000 worth of crack cocaine.
Zadeh and Kardan assaulted the victim and threatened them with a firearm and told them they now owed $10,000, according to the forfeiture suit.
“Mr. Moshfeghi Zadeh fired a single shot into the air and threatened the victim and their spouse,” says the suit.
The victim was then returned to their house with “visible injuries.”
On Oct. 5, Kardan and two other males kidnapped the victim a second time, took them to an unknown field, assaulted and threatened the victim with a firearm, according to the forfeiture suit.
As a result of the investigation, the RCMP obtained a warrant and searched the downtown Vancouver residence where Zadeh and Kardan lived.
Found were the Canadian and U.S. currency, a large portion of which was located behind a bathtub.
Also found were the gold bars, just under 20 grams of crack cocaine, two sets of body armour, three knives, four 9-mm handgun magazines and ammunition, a GPS tracking device, six cellphones and handcuffs.
Also found was clothing showing “Support HA” and “Support 81,” symbols for the Hells Angels, according to the forfeiture suit.
The RCMP arrested Zadeh for assault and uttering threats. Kardan was arrested for assault, uttering threats and use of a firearm in the commission of an offence.
During the search, the RCMP observed an item thrown from a window.
The police located the item, which was a firearm.
