The latest introspective project from esteemed photographer Alec Soth collates still lifes, lyrical portraits, and fragmented quotes and mottos inspired by his visits to undergraduate art programmes across the US.
Violence, calamity and the absurdity of war are recorded extensively within The Archive of Modern Conflict, the largest photographic collection of its kind in the world. For their most recent work, Holy Bible, Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin mined this archive with philosopher Adi Ophir's central tenet in mind: that God reveals himself predominantly through catastrophe and that power structures within the Bible correlate with those within modern systems of governance. The format of Broomberg and Chanarin's illustrated Holy Bible mimics both the precise structure and the physical form of the King James Version. By allowing elements of the original text to guide their image selection, the artists explore themes of authorship, and the unspoken criteria used to determine acceptable evidence of conflict. Inspired in part by the annotations and images Bertolt Brecht added to his own personal bible, Broomberg and Chanarin's publication questions the clichs at play within the visual representation of conflict.
Because God is completely holy, we need to give ourselves wholly to His service, but often there are holes (or inconsistencies) in our own holiness and righteousness. The apostle Peter urges us to be holy, because God is holy (1 Pet. 1:16).

Genealogies throughout Scripture remind us that God links us together, from one generation to the next. Matthew 1 is a collection of wealthy and powerful leaders divinely linked to outcasts and exiles. Together, this group leads to the birth of the greatest Leader and Outcast the world has ever known: Jesus Christ, our Unexpected King.
Just as every person listed in Matthew 1 matters to God, so does every person in your BSF group. He knows the woman on your Zoom screen and the man sitting next to you as you learn from one another. Will you take time to know them, too?
May we remember Matthew 1 as we meet each person who comes to our groups. May we invite those whom God places in our paths. May our group list read like the genealogies in Scripture. There is room for anyone and everyone who wants to come.
Thank You Hollie and prayers for your family.I was also a childrens teaching assistant and admin team member Bsf Has been an important part of how God has formed the members of my family. Best of luck to you as God continues to use us to show His love.
Thank you for the inspiration. I just quit a very lucrative and secure job, feeling that God has other plans for me but fear I may have imagined that and made a very impact full mistake. I actually missed out on joining the class in September due to the job but have been reading my NIV Life Application Bible from front to back and am just about finished with the Old Testiment. So looking forward to getting into Matthew and the New Testiment! I really needed some incouragement and found it in your blog. Thank you and God bless!
Dear Mark, thank you for asking! Our Executive Director is a woman, but our Board of Directors consists of a diverse group of men and women. Our Headquarters staff also consists of both men and women, along with our leaders in classes. We are so grateful that God created the diverse, yet united, Body of Christ to serve alongside one another.
Thank you Hollie for sharing what God has done in your life through BSF.
You have encouraged me to continue studying Gods word through BSF. You spoke about Azor and it got me thinking how we might see ourselves as insignificant & ordinary but we matter to God. God is growing our love relationship with him & other ladies in BSF. What a wonderful God we serve.
