Ensuring secure distribution and usage of creative assets and the brand material is vital to protect your brand. This can be enforced across the organization and outside by associating an expiration date (and time) with approved assets published from AEM to Brand Portal, or by licensing these assets for conditional use. Also, Brand Portal allows you to specify an expiration date for links to the assets shared from Brand Portal.
Administrators can publish expired assets from AEM Assets to Brand Portal. However, expired assets cannot be shared via ink from Brand Portal. If you select any expired asset from a folder containing both expired and non-expired assets, the Share Link action is not available. But, if you select a folder that contains expired and non-expired assets, the Share and Share Link actions are available.
If Viewers and Editors download a folder containing expired and non-expired assets, only the non-expired assets are downloaded. If a folder contains only expired assets, an empty folder is downloaded.
While sharing assets through links, Administrators and Editors can set a date and time of expiration using the Expiration field in the Link Sharing dialog box. The default expiration of link is seven days from the date on which link is shared.
It ensures that assets shared as links expire at the date and time set by Brand Portal Administrators and Editors, and can no longer be viewed and downloaded beyond the expiration date. As the assets shared through links can also be viewed by external users who are not part of the organization, by specifying expiration you can make sure that your approved assets are protected and not exposed to unknown entities beyond a specified time.
Licensed assets are subject to the acceptance of a license agreement prior to download from Brand Portal. This agreement for licensed assets comes when you directly download the asset from Brand Portal or via a shared link. Whether expired or not expired, license-protected assets can be viewed by all the users. However, the download and usage of expired licensed assets are limited. To know about the behavior of expired licensed assets and permissible activities based on user roles, refer to usage permissions of expired assets.
Recipients that trigger an expired URL will be prompted with an option to have a new URL sent to the email address of the current recipient. Redirection to a new email is not allowed through this action.
An attempt to request additional new links after ten have been requested within the 60-minute window disables the Send new link button and prompts an error. The recipient then must wait for 60-minutes after their first request to try again.
Suppose the recipient attempts to access the email URL on the fourth day. In that case, the link will trigger an error message indicating the link is expired and offer to deliver a new link to the original email address. The second (and any subsequent) email link has the same lifespan of three days.
A new signing URL for a specific recipient can only be requested ten times per hour. If a recipient requests more than ten new singing URLs in one hour, the Send new link button is disabled and an error is triggered.
That about says it. After 3+ years with no issues, two of my lab iMacs refused to open Media Composer because my license had "expired" that day (4/7/21) instead of seeing the license server. One I was able to point to the server, but the other will not budge. It even has the license server information listed. Updating to the newest Link version did nothing. All the rest are working fine.
About to try replacing Link with Application Manager, which was an easier app to set-up.
Any other ideas?
Just tried uninstalling Link and installing Application Manager. It sees the same state of "Activated" license, expired today with no ability to change it to the floating license server, which it had the location of. Reinstalled Link, same thing again.
It happens when the file was shared before and the link has expired. Outlook doesn't renew the link and shares the old expired link. However, Outlook Web App or OneDrive renews the link before sharing.
Why do download links expire?
The purpose of this feature is to prevent someone from sharing their download links in a public forum. If someone were to share their download link, anyone could use it, but only until it expires (default is 24 hours). This prevents long-term piracy that can harm your store, while also keeping the process simple for normal customers. Once a download link is expired, the customer needs to get a fresh download link if they wish to download. They can do this by logging into their account, or you can re-send their purchase receipt email to them on the Order screen in wp-admin.
First email contained 3 alerts which i could view but the second email which contained 2 alerts came up with "Link for sharing has expired" message. It is the first time i have recieved 2 seperate alert emails for the same night and why have the 2 "timed out" after only about 8 hours?
When I wish to see on my laptop some videos Arlo registered during the last few days I get everytime the statement "Link for sharing expired"I don't like to share those videos, I only want to see them. What's wrong?

I tried to add an account as an admin and when the link got was clicked it said the link has been expired ask for another link. Then I send another and it still said the same. I am aware the link gets expired after a set number of hours but this all happened in the course of a few minutes and it still said the link has been expired

I had the same issue downloading files using downloaders. The issue is when you are logged in with any Gmail account, google generates a different link. What I do is, I generate a shareable link and open that link in incognito mode, then just added the link to downloader and it works. And now the download link generated is a different one.
Updating my IDM to the latest version did the trick for me. Once I updated IDM to the latest version it automatically added an extension to chrome. I, then restarted chrome in normal mode, pasted the url and hit on "Enter" and IDM popped up with the proper link for the file to be downloaded. I'm happily downloading the file with IDM now. The file size is approx. 2.5 GB.
