HOW DID SHE HIT THAT HIGH NOTE. a blue christmas?
.
we love linda ronstadt and the stone ponies. early sixties pop rock. "different drum". from there we all learned a lot. new music. popular culture. ronstadt’s voice is so smooth. magical. lyrical. then one day years later linda ronstadt pops onto the car radio singing a new song. blue bayou.
.
"I feel so bad I got a worried mind
I'm so lonesome all the time
Since I left my baby behind
On Blue Bayou".
.
at the very end. at the very last minute of the song. it’s a dramatic moment so powerful it’s stone silence.
.
ronstadt hits that high note.
.
for an entire minute it seems. probably just a few seconds. it's powerful. beautiful. inimitable. we love it.
.

top 10 analysis
“blue bayou” (1977) linda ronstadt has perhaps the best voice ever [you must listen to this song]. “loving you” (1975) minnie ripperton sings the entire song with a very high voice yet not falsetto. “mcarthur park” (1977) donna summer hits the high note so many times it’s impossible to believe. “missing you” (1984) diana ross soft romantic voice is effortless and [could it be] perfect. “the greatest love of all” (1985) whitney houston has a vocal range that astonishes. “nothing compares to you” (1990) sinead o'connor is a beautiful strong woman’s voice almost making fun of itself. “love will never do without you” (1990) janet Jackson is seriously romantic and hits that high note at the very end of the song. “emotions” (1991) mariah carey is a miracle and pure with a voice so strong it’s love at first sight. “genie in a bottle” (1999) christina aguilara vocal training and range make the song an instant hit. “my heart will go on” (1997) celine dion scores with the soundtrack song to #1 movie of all time Titanic. a pure clear soprano voice.
.
those are perhaps some of the best female voices of all time.

new programming ideas for digital television
radio made it happen for linda ronstadt and her stone ponies. it's still happening today. ronstadt is pure “top 40” a music format based on radio station air play. Top 40 is literally a list of the forty most popular songs getting the most air play as judged by the radio stations themselves. no regulatory problems make linda ronstadt and other top 40 artists a resounding success. digital television should follow the music industry with this important new concept “new forms of popular culture just for the new medium itself”. top 40 is a radio station programming format that is still popular today. it's similar to “album oriented rock” or “grunge” or “easy listening music” or "progressive rock".

conclusion
pirates of penzance (1981) starring linda ronstadt went world wide. in fact double triple world wide. linda ronstadt “pirates” the gilbert and sullivan musical toured the world. from broadway stage to every stage. the top 10 soundtrack album went gold world wide. more world famous? linda ronstadt then married california "high tech" governor jerry brown. the ceremony itself was so romantic and glamorous all the world tuned in. we're happy. jerry brown for president? anyway the summer of love returns. democrats and liberals linda and jerry endorsed our democratic way of life. our best hope for a great democratic future. they were a living symbol of progressive politics. the "love generation". instead it was bill and hillary clinton that won the office of president for us people. it was years later. they brought us of all things a new form of popular culture. called the internet.
.
from "different drum" top 40 radio to "yahoo" it's a very different world today. thank progressive politics. "rockabilly" and early rock and roll ended at the end of the nineteen fifties. pop rock. high tech and popular culture. it's digital media. i'm number one.
.
today you are listening to linda ronstadt on the internet.
