Gang,

A very simple way of cleaning up the sockets is to use BRASSO.  BRASSO is a  petroleum based metal cleaning compound.  Any residue can be removed with isopropyl alcohol.  Your only issue is getting It into the socket.  There are many ways to proceed...  My choice would be Tapered Spiral Nylon Dental Brushes.  They can be picked up at just about any Drug Store.

Don’t forget to clean the pins on the tubes.
