Hi James,
That’s a neat tool. I’ve seen similar, but not on such a grand scale.
While listening to some of the QSOs the search engine found for WS6X, I found a bizarre situation. In the following QSO with WB0RLJ, 15 M CW, @1339 UTC, I wasn’t even on the air on that day / hour:
<WB0RLJ @ US-4011 2025-09-20 (UTC) - Chalco Hills State Recreation Area> The guy clearly sends “WS6X”; then sends his QTH as “CA.”
NOTE:
My hunch is that the guy calling was WI6X. He is fairly active on CW and is from CA. Interestingly his name is also Jim.
Years ago, a Japanese ham with the U.S. call, WH6X, did a lengthy stint in 6Y5. He often sent his call as 6Y5/W”S”6X. I even worked him in a CW contest once, when he sent 6Y5/WS6X. You can not believe how many BURO cards I received requesting a QSL from 6Y5! It took years before the requests finally stopped.
Maybe I’ll switch to SSB!!
Jim – WS6X

Subject: [Valley Hams] YouTube CW spots.
GE all,
A friend of mine sent me this link. It is my understanding that if you work someone on CW and they put your call as a chapter in their YouTube video, this search engine will pull it out.
