I have WSJTX using Com 12 for PTT, and Com 3 for CAT control.
Attempting to use the same settings in Winlink Express, the
program complains that Com 3 may be in use by another program.
There are no other programs open that use Com 3, so why
is it saying that? Strange. Any solutions?

Just use it anyway. I do that with my DigiRigs and it works fine as long as the other program is not running.

Like you David, I see the same thing, although with other programs.  And like Bob says - just Continue and ignore the warning.  I've not seen any problem by doing so.

I still don't understand it and I wish it didn't happen, but I don't know enough about the issue to figure it out.  I am relieved to see that Bob has seen the same thing and also Continues in spite of it.

I know there must be an answer but I'm probably not smart enough to even understand the explanation.  It must have something to do with the previous program not releasing port assignments when the program closes???

I shut down the computer, so that should release any
hold on a com port. Still not working this morning.
Also, I apparently lost some/most/all settings in MMTTY.
I can get it to key the radio, but only with a solid tone.
I see the EXTFSK in the tray at the bottom of the monitor,
but can't get it on the desktop to check what the settings
are. I'm having a heck of a time trying to get RTTY
working for the WAE contest tonight! Might make it there,
and I might not. Also don't have the MMTTY window
with the lines to tune in a signal. Can't for the life of me
find how to get that back. I do have the 2Tone window
working, so I may just have to go without MMTTY's
  window.  Sigh......

Sorry you're having this problem.  This sounds like the problems I've run into with MMTTY(or

any other rtty program).

Only mine works until contest time then it just sends constant tone.  I haven't figured it out yet.

Don't worry though, it will start working again after the contest!!  LOL mine does.

Very frustrating problem.
