I see that there are 2 GMRS repeaters in Augusta County;
one is in/near Verona, and the other is on Elliott Knob.
What kind of coverage do they have?

When we had a GMRS repeater up in Verona years ago, it covered most of Augusta County and 3/4 of Rockingham County, for REACT back then. It was a 50 watt repeater.

The Elliott Knob repeater has great coverage. I have connected with it from Ingalls Overlook on 1 watt. I have also connected with it from Rockingham and Rockbridge Counties.

David,

I actually own the Elliots Knob repeater (462.600 / 467.600 / 123.0)

The repeater is capable of 100 watts but its been tuned down to 10 watts because of an issue with water in the feed line causing a huge SWR issue. I'm unable to climb the tower to address the issue due to a bad knee. It is connected to a Sinclare commercial 8 bay antenna @ 10.5 db gain side mounted just underneath the 444.100 antenna that occupies the towers nose cone.

The coverage has been much better than it is at present because of the bad SWR. Hopefully, I can get the coax connection dried out and improve its performance in the future.

I put it up there when Tim owned the building in hopes of getting more users involved in radio to intise them to pursue an amateur ticket. I haven't had any conversations with Mathew now that he owns to building, as to the future of the GMRS machine in its current location.It seems I'm busier being retired than I was when I worked full time!!
