Hi everyone,

Thank you so much to everyone who replied last week and for all you do to support Grindstone. Your willingness to volunteer each year plays a huge role in keeping our runners safe and our race operations running smoothly.

I've attached the updated list of our remaining Ham Radio volunteer needs. We still have several positions to fill, so if you're available for any of the open shifts, I'd love to hear from you.

If you know of any fellow operators who might be interested in helping, please feel free to forward this email. We're always grateful to welcome new volunteers to the team.

I wanted to send out a quick update on our HAM radio coverage for the 2026 Grindstone 100 on September 18–20.

First, thank you to everyone who has already committed to helping this year. Your support is critical to the safety of our runners, volunteers, and race staff. We truly could not do this event without you.

Below is our current staffing list. Any position listed as OPEN is still available. If you've already signed up but would like to add another shift, or if you haven't signed up yet and would like to help, we'd love to have you.

Please reply to this email and let me know which position(s) you'd like to cover. If you're flexible, just let me know what day(s) and times you're available, and I'll match you with one of our greatest needs.

Good morning, Josh and team. This weekend I received a Jury summons that will include the race weekend. The silver lining is that it is an "On-Call" period, but I will not know if I have to report each day until the evening before. I recommend searching for an operator to cover at least the Friday portion of North River Gap. If I am not needed that day then I will be able to support. If I am needed that day for Jury duty, then I don't think I will make it on time to set up and open the aid station.
