I’ve attached the rules for Winter Field Day 2026.

Winter Field Day is held the last full weekend in January. For 2026, it will be held on January 24th and 25th. The 30-hour operational period starts at 1600 UTC on Saturday (11 am EST), the 24th , and ends at 21:59 UTC on Sunday, the 25th (4:59 pm EST). Stations may begin setting up no earlier than 16:00 UTC (11 am EST) on the Friday before.

If you decide to operate from home, you would operate as 1H. I would be 1H VA. If you decide to venture outside, the rules will help.

I’ll be operating from a nice warm indoor location - thus 1I, and will claim the “away from home” multiplier. Also QRP and Emergency (battery) power.

Interesting that they’ve changed the alternative power rules - now laptops may not be on commercial power at all. - it used to be OK on commercial power if used only for logging/dupe checking, but had to be on alternative power if used to key transmitter in CW mode, or generating tones for digital.

They also give credit for operating for six hours straight:  No chance I’ll qualify for that!
